There was initially confusion as it hadn't been made clear that we had to hire bedding and towels for an extra fee. This should be made much clearer (as I see now from lots of reviewers complaining about the same thing). But once that was sorted - the apartment was lovely, easily big enough for four, so for two it was luxury! Bright and clean, lovely balcony overlooking the countryside, everything we needed. Free and secure parking right outside. We went to the local campsite, 8 minutes'walk away, to eat in the evenings, very good. Convenient drive to the ferry to Ile aux Moines. Recommended.

Great apartment near Ile aux Moines

Fantastic place to stay. Great for people who are interested (even if only in their remotest dreams like me) in living in a tiny house. Wild surroundings, clean building, great amenities - will be visiting again! 

Within a decent walk from the nearest beaches, and striking distance from the beautiful seaside village of Larmor-Baden.

The place is actually quite nice; clean and spacious with a separate lounge and an open - well equipped - kitchen. It is located in a peaceful area.

However, I now realize that "Gites" in France do not operate like hotels (at least not this one). My wife and I spent only one night and booked via Agoda less than 24 hours before showing-up. It is only after I booked that I received messages from the Gites manager making it clear that sheets and towels were not included in the rate and could be provided at an extra cost (representing over 30% of the cost of the night I paid for). That was disappointing as this fact was not obvious at all at the time of my booking. 

Furthermore, all exchanges with the owner were by mail only, and in one direction only - standard messages coming from her (I did not get any answers to my own messages... maybe some day).  Without specific instructions and no one awaiting us, we ended-up taking the one apartment which key was on its door  (after I had to check them all!).

All in all, a lukewarm stay.  This may be a great place for a long(er) stay, but I would not choose it (under the terms I experienced) for one or a couple of nights.

Maybe not suitable for a simple overnight stay...

Spent a lovely week here with the family recently. Having a ground floor 2 bedroom apartment worked well with our two year old and it was great being able to use the terrace area in the evenings. Located close to Baden and lots of other great South Brittany towns and villages, all easily and quickly accessible by car. Good sized Carrefour, cafe and boulangerie within a few minutes drive.

The place was reasonable value although it would be preferable if there was more transparency on 'amounts not included', i.e. cleaning fee was one price on booking.com and 3x as much in the information in the gite (although didn't need to pay it); information on booking.com and in the gite said that daily charges for electricity would be applicable (we didn't need to pay anything); and needed to hire bed linen at €7/person and towels €5/person for the stay. It would be better for most guests to have a flat fee and not worry about what they needed to pay at the end as it was very confusing. Finally booking.com said Visa was accepted but cash seemed the only option while we were there (which was fine for us).

We met Francoise who was very friendly and helpful. Would recommend this for families.

Lovely secluded gites

Peaceful, lovely views and close to all amenities. Well equipped and nicely decorated apartments. If you want to use the pool at the campsite you need to get registered by the owner (unless you booked the apartment via the website of the campsite). We will be back!

Just perfect!

We spent a week here in late September, staying in one of the apartments.  It really is a super little find and highly recommended.  Very modern, and spacious - perfect for relaxing

The apartment wasn't quite ready when we arrived, but that was the only thing that wasn't quite right.  Situated looking down over fields, it has been well laid out so that you have privacy - we had a little terrace and could eat outside every day.  The kitchen is well appointed with more tools than you'd ever need (for example two oyster shuckers, a salad spinner and bbq tools).  There are horses in neighbouring fields that wander past frequently and say hello, which was really lovely.  It was so quiet and peaceful we could hear the beating wings of a little robin which adopted us for the bread crumbs!

Baden itself is a great place to venture out from, with all of the Quiberon/Morbihan area within an hours drive.  The village boulangerie/patisserie is a ten minute walk and is well stocked with treats.  There's also a butcher, small bar/tabac and a wonderful creperie.  A fishmonger set up in the village centre a couple of mornings in a row - and there is a local market on Friday night which we unfortunately missed.  The carrefour on the outskirts is small but does the trick and has a good fish counter as well as the usual groceries - we didn't find a hypermarche nearby (but didn't look too hard).

Les Hauts is eco friendly but not over the top in this regard.  Everything is requested to be recycled, which is fair enough - and the power comes from solar panels.  Bedlinen etc are from eco friendly suppliers - and the lady who runs the place considers it her eco-project.  She's really nice and speaks a little (just enough) english!

Peace and tranquility!  Lovely place to stay

After picking out an area of France to visit we had to take a gamble on an area/place to stay but I have to say I don't think we could have picked a nicer place to stay. With the price I was a little worried about what we'd find but when we turned up we were shocked. The grounds, apartments are perfect. We have a young daughter who loves animals so sharing a home from home for a few days with horses was a dream for her. The apartments are clean, have everything you need, even super fast wifi (although I hardly used it as I was trying to make the most of the setting). 

The staff are super, friendly and approachable, they basically leave you to it but it works. 

This place is great for families, a place to escape from it all and spend some time in this peaceful little gem. It's great value, considering a night for all 5 of us cost me the same as a travelodge in Birmingham!

We loved our stay here and didn't want to leave, will be coming back again for longer this time.

Such a good find

If you'd like to experience French hospitality at its best, modern comfort in peaceful surroundings, then Les Hauts de Toulvern is a must.  
This environmentally friendly set up, nestled in the middle of a magnificient region,  offers close proximity to a range of activities to satisfy even the most discerning traveller.
A place I would highly recommend and can't wait to go back to !
