Geoff and Vic as hosts are as good as they come - professional yet friendly and always accommodating. The Chalet they run is fabulous, rooms immaculate, beds comfortable, food excellent, location perfect. Place to store bikes and basic repair stand and tools. I have stayed there four or five times and always leave feeling great about them and the stay.

Perfect Chalet for cycling in the area.

We had a fab time staying at the Free Range chalet. The rooms were all beautifully decorated and homely and the living room was cosy and inviting with its lovely log burner and great selection of games.
Vic and Geoff were perfect hosts, really making us  feel welcome and at home. The meals were all creative and delicious and they both had amazing local knowledge and were really helpful supporting us to navigate the ski hire and lift passes. They really went over and above to make sure we had the best stay.

Perfect place to stay after a busy day skiing

Having stayed with Vic and Geoff in the summer season for cycling in the worlds best mountain playground, I wasn't sure what being in beautiful Bagneres de Luchon would be like in the cold of winter.
I knew for sure that the food would be amazing, the accommodation wonderfully comfortable and that the hosts would provide a service more usually found in a 5 star hotel.
Of course it was wonderful!
The winter decorations all across the town are beautiful, all the seasonal shops, bars and restaurants were open and there was a definite buzz in the air.
Mother Nature was a bit stingy with the snow but she provided enough for a gang of a beginners and improvers to use all week, along with some incredible sunshine to show off the snowy peaks.
The new Teleporte is excellent, smooth and comfortable, the chair lifts have also been upgraded and are equally smooth. The ski school instructors were superb in every way and a huge hit with the teenagers and adults alike, if for slightly different reasons..
The light show on our last night was spectacular, the gondola ran through the evening allowing us to watch the torch procession from the balcony of La Chappelle restaurant in comfort warm brownies packed by Vic were a tasty bonus.
Both Geoff and Vic came along to assist with getting skis, boots and gear all sorted as well as talking us through lift passes until we got the hang of the App.
Geoff very kindly took the time to ski with us all and helped immensely with a couple of the more nervous in the group bringing them on so they got more from the lessons.
Vics food was as usual absolutely delicious, everything 100% vegan, fresh, varied breakfasts, pancake day pancakes, packed lunches, afternoon cakes and incredible 3 course meals every night for all 14 of us.
Last but not least all arrangements for transfers, travel and even an unexpected appointment to be made with the local Doctor were dealt with for us.
I will be back to ski next season and the only improvement I can think of is a longer stay.

The best place to stay any time of year

We stayed for a week of skiing in the near by resort. 7 teens and 7 adults  We could not have been better looked after by the hosts. The house itself is a home from home, very comfortable rooms, clean and  warm and spacious. The decoration in each room was unique- and the views from the windows of the mountains are spectacular. The food was amazing and gave us all the fuel we needed for a day ski ing. A fab games room the kids used and a comfortable lounge with real fire to relax by in the evening. Games available to play if you have the energy after a day on the slopes. From the house it was an easy walk through the beautiful  Luchon to the ski hire shop and the telecabin and a short trip up to the ski resort. The hosts Geoff snd Vic made sure we had everything we needed for the ski holiday before and during the holiday and looked after our every need- we really felt like we were their guests- as well as being kind and fun company - they are knowledgable about the local area- and were the icing on the cake of a fabulous holiday.

Fantastic guest house

Had a fantastic stay with Vic and Geoff. Even though it was my first visit to the Free Range Chalet, it felt like I was staying with friends!

My room on the first floor was beautifully furnished and was exceptionally comfortable.

I was a solo traveller, but the sociable nature of the accommodation meant that I was able to meet new people and spend time riding with them as well as going out on my own solo rides.

Breakfast and evening meals were brilliant, you certainly wont go hungry.

I have no hesitation in recommending the Free Range Chalet!

Stay with friends..

We arrived early on a rainy afternoon and somewhat earlier than our check in time.  Geoff and Victoria provided us with a map of the area detailing places where we could eat and they then messaged us early to say our room was ready.  We so appreciated this as the rain was “in” for the remainder of the afternoon. It was great waking up to a beautiful blue sky, the sun shining and spectacular views the following morning.
Tea and coffee (free) was available from the breakfast area whenever we needed it as was snacks and a glass of port (payable at the honesty bar).  Breakfast was relaxed with cereal, yoghurt, bread and honey/jam, croissants all available with juices and hot drinks too.
The room was spacious and clean and shower powerful.
Should we revisit this region we would definitely return here and in the meantime can recommend it to anyone … you would not be disappointed.

Fantastic hosts

The Free Range Chalet was used by our cycling group during our recent Tour of the Pyrenees. A beautifully restored Chalet in a perfect location just set back from Luchon Town centre. It's an ideal spot to launch rides off into the surrounding Cols. 
The rooms were well furnished with great views of the valley.  Geoff and Vic were brilliant hosts, providing a great start to the day with a wide selection of continental breakfast options,  and their 3 course dinners were most welcome after a full day's cycling - well prepared using tasty local fresh produce. 
Thanks to Geoff for going the extra step and assisting with our airport transfers, and for his local knowledge providing us with tips and hints for our cycling routes.

Great location 👌Great hosts 👏

Geoff and Vic provided excellent service, facilities and company during our cycling trip. The food was of excellent quality and plentiful for hungry cyclists as well as catering for my gluten free dietary requirement. The accommodation was clean and very comfortable. They arranged an excellent local guide for our days cycling as well as providing transfers to and from Toulouse airport and supporting us on a big day out in the mountains. A superb holiday.

Great cycling holiday

Vic and Geoff are great hosts, and the house is wonderful. Our rooms were spacious and warm with great views. The food, breakfast every day with a few evening meals, was excellent and great value. 

The house is well located in Luchon with easy access to the local ski area and close to the main route into Spain. Luchon’s many bars and restaurants are just 5 minutes away.

Vic and Geoff are very knowledgeable of the local area and if you like your skiing and cycling I couldn’t think of a better place to be based.

My favourite room was the snug, just the place to curl up with a good book after a day on the piste. Secure storage for skis and bikes is also a huge plus.

Fantastic location in the heart of the Pyrenees with great hosts

We were looking for something special to celebrate a family member's significant birthday and we were not disappointed.   Geoff and Victoria were the perfect hosts and kept us well fed with amazing breakfasts and evening meals.  As a bonus, hot beverages and home baked cakes awaited us after a busy day skiing.
The accommodation was spacious, with clean bedrooms, en-suites and communal living areas. Geoff and Victoria were also the perfect guides with helpful information on the town, ski resort and the surrounding areas.  We had good, clear communication on the run up to the holiday and help arranging ski hire and ski passes.  Highly recommended.
