We stayed in the Castle at Château de Barbirey for 1-week with friends. The rooms have comfortable each with their own bathroom. The dining room is spacious and suitable for family or group gatherings. The gardens and grounds are lovely. The rooms spacious and comfortable too.

Delightful and comfortable accommodation for friends

After a warm welcome from everyone , and touched improvements since last visit in April’2019 With a hug organic garden section .i do found everything is amazing , location ’ servicé  , staff  special thanks to General Manager Mr.Yahia Kotub and all his team .
I experienced a very touched improvements in all hotel aspects as i am one of this hotel réguler guest since 2001 I do touched a big difference i.e organic garden areas, turtles lake , candle romantic dinners , Xmas atmosphere with a unique lighting for the tower , interacting with guests and staff ...

Excellent stay and very touched improvments

The venue has been able to combine quality service and service, while maintaining simplicity and authenticity, and the owner has listened in early and made himself available throughout our seminar to make sure that it goes as smoothly as possible.

It's the perfect place for our corporate seminar.

During the dry season, we were the only guests. The house is very pleasant, the room is spacious, the park is beautiful. There is no network, no TV, perfect for a real break from everyday life.

It's a quiet, green weekend.

We stayed here for one night as part of a cycling tour of burgundy. It was like stepping into another world. JB took us to his cellar and helped us choose a bottle of wine to have with the bread, cheese and ham we had brought with us. He also gave us tomatoes from the garden which tasted fantastic. We sat out on the terrace watching the light fade over the garden and drinking a magnificent bottle of burgundy.....brilliant.  The room was spacious and fitted out in keeping with the decor of the chateau, but very comfortable and pleasant.

A very special stay

The garden is magnificent and the living room very pleasant, but unwarm hospitality, rudimentary breakfast and uncharming bedroom, for a place so full of history.

It's a nice place, but there's little attention for visitors.

We stayed here for 2 nights, and it couldn't have been more perfect. It was easy to reach by public transportation (as long as you're patient or time it well to get the bus), but was totally secluded. JB was extremely welcoming and sat down with us to help us decide what we'd like to do. He gave us great suggestions that Were even better than our own intended plans, and helped us get in touch with the right people to rent bikes. We arrived too late to go anywhere for dinner, so for a supplemental fee he gave us a "survival pack", which was a chef prepared frozen meal that might have been one of the best things I've ever eaten. The grounds were so peaceful, we could have spent a week exploring the local sights but sadly had to leave for the next leg of our journey. The price was very reasonable for what you get in return- 100% recommend this place, they'll look after you well. Very relaxing and full of culture!

Magnificent, welcoming and relaxing

Stayed here with our 2 toddlers as part of a cycle tour - it is indeed a beautiful building well restored and a helpful dutch lady showed us our rooms and the gardens - but was more of a "stay in a room in a chateau" than a hotel.  The cot we reserved for our baby had 30cm high sides so was un-useable.  There wasn't a restaurant open either at the Chateau or in the village (at Easter - so do check) so we had to cycle to the next village for dinner which wasn't ideal after a day on the bikes.   Breakfast was average - jam was clearly mouldy which for the price we paid was disappointing

My company Under30Experiences and I organized a visit to Barbirey Castle last summer. We brought a dozen young Americans, all between the ages of 22 and 30, to discover the French countryside, vineyards, and the art of living in French. We had a great stay, the hosts Jean-Bernard and Veronique, were very attentive and listened to our suggestions, just like Sofiya. The garden is huge and beautiful, our visitors were more than happy to stay at the castle and even said that it had been the most relaxing vacation of their lives! We hope to return next year!

What a lovely stay.

The chateau is a wonderful touring base for the Burgundy region. Within a 30 min, drive from Dijon or Beaune, it's also just a few miles from several top-rated restaurants and a number of sites you'll want to visit, like the beautiful medieval village of Chateaneuf. I'd highly recommend making lunch reservations at some of the well-known nearby restaurants, so you can cook your own dinner in the large, comfortable kitchen (with a speedy commercial dishwasher) and visit with friends in the spacious dining room. (We rented the entire chateau, so the bed-and-breakfast set-up will be different if you choose that route.) Sitting outside enjoying the beautiful grounds and gardens with a glass (or three) of local wine was always the highlight of our day.

The gardener brought us tomatoes and eggplants to add to our dinner and the owner and property manager were responsive and friendly. We rented bikes across the street and rode along the canal just a few steps away - where barges go through locks, waterfowl float down to feed, and horses and cows graze in beautiful pastures along the way. 

We happened to be there in mid-September during the chateau's annual Pigeonnier de Vos Reves - where anyone who wishes to can write their dreams on a paper to slip into an empty wine bottle, and place it in the tower that once housed hundreds of pigeons on the property. Very special opportunity to log your bottle number into a book so that 10 or 20 0r 30 years from now, you can find it if you return and read your earlier thoughts.

The rooms are comfortable and spacious and our third floor en-suite bathroom had a modern shower with the best water pressure I think I've ever had. The living area features a working wood-burning fireplace which added to the charm of our evenings together talking. 

You can't go wrong with this rental. Each room is different, so some visitors might like some rooms better than others. They're not fancy, but they suit the owner's notion of making guests feel at home. Ours was roomy and pleasant with comfortable beds, warm duvets and plenty of character. The on-premise washing machine was a plus, too.

Great touring base with beautiful grounds to relax with wine on your return each night!
