The hotel has been refurbished in a traditional style. Rooms are very neat and clean. The proprietor is very friendly and hard working. Dogs, even our big one, are welcome. Breakfast is simple (we at out in the evening, so no view on dinner). However, with the more than reasonable pricing this hotel is very good value for money. A bus opposite the hotel will take you in a few minutes to the slopes and after skiing you can enjoy the thermal spa, equally almost opposite. The charming village is small, but with enough pubs and restaurants to entertain you in the evening. Perfect place for a family holiday!

Perfect base for skiing holiday

A poor experience here. Thought we go up the mountain (walkers not skiers) and led by the overarching reviews we booked this hotel. First the good - it is in the centre of town though the claim to have 'free parking' makes one cynical - it is on the street like everyone else in town. The building has been redecorated and is brighter than you usual French family run hotel (-4watt bulbs ;-) ) but the windows are still draughty if your bed is close to one- and rooms are cramped The water as another reporter commented takes an age to become hot but its an old building which has been redecorated rather than refurbished. All in all do not expect a standard even close to your average 'chain' it's a skiers doss place which as an asset is sweated fro every sou in a short and difficult season. We took one evening meal - no choice no menu but a well cooked family 4 courses - a tad overpriced compared with neighbouring restaurants, On arrival we were greeted with a list of rules rather than a smile - hey ho each their own when it comes to judging friendliness and we do try to engage and do speak the language. During our short stay my wife broke here patella in a fall (up the mountain) On leaving there was a lot of jollity about it (I suppose they take breaks in their stride so to speak) but there wasn't a single offer of assistance even a gesture unlike the restaurant over the road - NO I am sorry I cannot consider this place friendly. Draughty, Unfriendly, Dull  DUD.

a DUD - draughty unfriendly dull

Starting with the good, this hotel's location is excellent at the heart of the small village of Bareges which has easy  access to the Grand Tourmalet ski area. However, it does have downsides. We had three main issues. Firstly, the wifi did not  work at all. All frequent travellers are used to weak wifi or even wifi you have to pay for but this had a domain system which did not let you log on.  Secondly,  there was no hot water in one of our rooms for two of our three nights. According to the staff you just have to run it for an exceptionally long time - I  don't think so.  Thirdly while the hotel was not expensive by ski area standards it was not cheap for what you get. Very plain "confort"  room without the advertised DVD player and tiny double bed.  Unappealing breakfast and very  unfriendly  (at  least  to us) staff. A let down.

Not a good experience

Very friendly hotel, nice warm rooms and spotlessly clean.
Nice home cooked food too together with decent Wi-Fi.
Good location in the centre of the village and close to the ski bus stop.
Overall very good value for money

Warm and Welcoming Hotel

Stayed here as part of a packaged weekend ski break so didn't really have the choice but was very pleasantly surprised by this charming, warm and friendly little hotel. 

My room was fairly small and presumably a single (4ft bed) at the back of the hotel facing the river. It was very simple but importantly it was spotlessly clean and everything worked. The bed was very comfortable.

The food was also very good although you have no choice in what you get served at dinner but it was all good standard home cooked food and certainly surpassed expectations.

The hotel is pretty much right in the middle of the village with the ski bus stop less than 100m from the door and a couple of ski hire shops, bars and mini-supermarket all within 2 minutes walk.

Definitely hope to return and would recommend to others.

A pleasant surprise 

We stayed here during the half term holiday 2015. Great location next to ski bus stop - very clean and welcoming. Excellent for families. Basic continental breakfast and half board available if required - great value for money
