We loved this hotel.  We had the Family Room on the top floor of a building that was a one minute walk from the main hotel, just across a very picturesque bridge over a small canal.  The room was perfect for our family, with a large king bed, and two separate twin-sized beds for each of our two teens.  Our teens are tall and slept on the two individual beds without issue.  The room is arranged as two spaces separated by a bathroom in the middle, with a hallway connecting them.  There is not a door separating the spaces due to the open hallway, but the two rooms are private to each other.  The fourth bed was along the hallway area.  The room was huge by American standards and especially by European standards.  It was very clean, and well appointed with towels and water and such.  The hotel staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful with some questions we had.  Breakfast was excellent, and we enjoyed a drink at the bar in the evening.  The room was also very quiet, with no street noise and no noise from the adjacent room.  We stayed two nights, arriving late the first night and departing early in the morning after our second night, just to accommodate a daylong tour of the WWII sights nearby.  I wish we had stayed an extra day to explore Bayeux; it was an adorable little town and we really loved walking around and exploring after our WWII tour.  Overall this was an excellent stay, and our best hotel of our 12-day trip in Europe.  Highly recommend.

Excellent stay for family of 4 - very spacious, clean, quiet and friendly

Stopped here on a trip through France, and received the best service of all our hotels. Great location with nice patio restaurant in a prime location in Bayeux. 

Would go again in a heartbeat! Great experience, Bayeux as a whole is a can't miss, and Reine Mathilde is a must stay 

Best of many stops across France 

We stayed in the annex and had a lovely room for a very reasonable price.  Hotel is conveniently located to cathedral, tapestry museum, Main Street of Bayeux and many bars and restaurants.  Large room with king bed and large bathroom with nice, high pressure rain shower.  Really good value…highly recommend!

Great location and value for the price!

The hotel is small with lots of steps here and steps there and no lift. I apparently was allotted the biggest room, room 14 in case you're interested, but I wouldn't describe it as spacious. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was adequate and there was a fabulous coffee machine. The wifi worked intermittently but I suspect I was too far away from the router. The location was excellent, about 15 mins on foot from the station and between the tapestry museum and the cathedral. Lots of restaurants in the immediate vicinity, including one in the hotel.

an excellent location

We stayed here as a base for several tours we did in Normandy.  Staff was very friendly and helpful.  Stored our bags till room was ready.  We had 3 different rooms, one in the annex that was huge, had a full size walk in shower, lounge area with couch and chair (room 22).  Also had a single room (#7) that was small but perfect for one person, no view except to roof and large person would not fit in shower and have to walk in sideways to use toilet and last room (#4) had 2 single beds with a nice view of the church.  It's not hugh but by European standards, roomy.  Breakfast not worth $14 but convenient, buffet style with usual European choices and American (eggs, bacon, pancakes).  Great for us since we were catching tours early each morning.  Rooms are very reasonably priced, clean, great central location to downtown attractions and main street.  We walked from train station to hotel in 10 min.  All beds were so comfortable.  Has a nice outside sitting area and grounds are around the water that runs through the town.  Highly recommend!

Charming and accommodating Hotel

Central location. Extremely helpful staff. Charming restaurant embedded (raw oysters in season!). Many nearby amenities. Short walk to cathedral. Rooms are small like most in Europe. I would prefer hotter  shower water but that’s just me. Would definitely return. Excellent value.

Excellent value, ideal location

We went back because of the friendly staff and the lovely large room in the Maison Mathilde.  Perfect central location. Nice breakfast buffet that is well worth the money. Looking forward to returning as soon as possible.

Excellent yet again 

Stayed for one night, really good value hotel. Aurelien was a wonderful host, nothing was too much trouble. Kindly brought us drinks and food to our to when husband was unwell. Breakfast was great and plentiful. Would recommend for budget and comfortable hotel. The restaurant seemed busy and buzzing, but we are in our room.

Great value and welcoming

We stayed in the La Maison de Mathilde. It was mostly quiet till someone in the room above us checked in. We could hear ever single step they took. Restaurant is convenient and food good, service was NOT good. Very rude. Breakfast is very basic and not worth the cost. Location is excellent. So some good, some bad. I would not stay here again.

Located downtown Bayeaux - great welcoming atmosphere / rooms were stunning / great breakfast and restaurant - five star rating!  Would definitely stay again - easy booking and close to all attractions in the area
