We stayed just one night, but would have liked longer. Christine, the host, is welcoming and efficient, attentive, but not pushy. Our room, opening into the garden, was very comfortable, shabby-chic and practical, with a cooking area, and a door opening onto a quiet part of the garden. The breakfast was a wonderful experience, taken en famille with the other guests, in the old-fashioned dining room. Home-made yogurt, cakes and jams, fresh coffee, warm bread, and, who’s have thought it, a conversation about jams and jam-making! Thankyou, Christine.

Calm, rural and comfortable.

Too bad we only stayed one night. Christine was a great hostess and the breakfast was awesome- homemade jam, yogurt, and Madeleines! The room was adorable, the bathroom spacious for France we thought. The surroundings are relaxing. One of the best part was the litter of puppies! If we were in the area again, I would want to stay for many nights. The house is old but the remodel was lovely. There is free parking too, right at the home. Convenient drive to adorable Chinon. Beautiful setting and very relaxing

We booked here for one night's stay  on our journey back up to Calais from Bordeaux. We were delighted with the beautiful garden, with a rustic old barn, table and chairs and sun loungers. The house itself looked old and charming. We were warmly welcomed  by Christine, who spoke very good English. We were shown up a wooden staircase to a room in the roof. It had original oak beams in keeping with the character of the house. The room was fully equipped with kitchen area, double bed area, two singles and a fold down bed  available. The furniture was very shabby chic in a beautiful way.

Amazing place

We recently stayed 1 night at this charming old farm house. Our room was comfortable and spacious and the shower was good. Breakfast was very good with the very tasty homemade yoghurt and jams. Christine was a wonderful hostess. The location was very peaceful with vineyards around and less than 10 minutes drive to Chinon. It was great to have breakfast and free parking included in the very reasonable price.

A Wonderful Experience

We loved our 4 night stay at La Balastiere. The garden & surrounds were charming - there were an abundance of flowers, fruit trees and chairs and sun lounges to sit amongst them. There were vineyards next to us and along the road into the property. It was stunning!
Christine was a superb host and very obliging. Her breakfasts were one of the highlights of our stay! Home made yoghurt & jams, crepes, and a beautiful selection of breads. The breakfast room immersed us totally in French rustic charm with exposed beams. There was also a communal kitchen which was well equipped.

The location was 5 minute drive from Chinon - a beautiful town in the Loire offering plenty of restaurants and eating options.
