We have just had a wonderful lunchtime meal at the Cheval Blanc restaurant. Everything was superb from the Covid precautions taken, the quality of the decor and the excellent people working there.
More importantly, for a restaurant, the food was first class. Good choice of menu and every dish was devoured with gusto. 
The wine also was excellent, with a good choice of reasonably priced quality wine.
We will certainly make it a place we will visit regularly from now on and take friends to.

Fantastic Restaurant - superb everything

A friendly welcome and comfortable lodgings Located in a lovely quaint little French village. Very peaceful and relaxing. Food and drink served in a nice little restaurant just next door - dinner was very nice and good value. 

- Breakfast basic, help yourself and no hot options. 

- Room a bit small and sparse
- internet went down when we were there. Otherwise no complaints. No aircon. 

Comfortable basic lodgings. Good dinner. 

A pleasant small country hotel set in a quiet village.  The hotel consists of six rooms in a block on one side of the road and the reception, bar and restaurant in a building on the other side of the road.
Because the hotel is small I would recommend that you give them an estimated time of arrival.  We arrived soon after 3 p.m. and found no-one there.  After filling up our car with petrol and doing some shopping in a nearby town we returned to find the proprietor had also returned.
The room was pleasant with a decent sized shower and a comfortable bed.  We got a good night’s sleep in very peaceful surroundings.  Although we had been led to believe that the restaurant was closed on a Monday, we discovered it was open during the peak tourism season and had an excellent meal.  We were well looked after and the service was friendly and helpful.  I would stop there again.

Quiet pleasant country hotel

We were tired and in need of a nice hotel to stay so we consulted our Logis guide and found this place. Room was decent and had a fan which was much appreciated in the very hot weather 36 degrees! There was a small pool which was out of service. The restaurant was excellent and served a superb 3 course menu for €17.50 The breakfast buffet was a  typical French one of bread,croissant and jam

GREAT PLACE

A welcoming small hotel with outside terrace.  Excellent dinner and good continental breakfast.  Rural atmosphere and pleasant bar.  Help with luggage was much appreciated.  Service was prompt and friendly and their menu of the day very reasonably priced.

A lovely country stopover.

Arrived at this hotel that our friends have stayed in 5 times in the past and we had once.
Very hot - very tired, we walking into the hotel to see new management.
Showed them the email booking and the reply from the hotel confirming the booking.
After about 5 minutes they said that they knew nothing of this booking and blamed the former owners.

OK - I could understand, having run a small business for 20 year, BUT when we had upset or disappointed customers (and this will happen not matter how hard you try) WE TRIED TO HELP.

Were we asked to sit down - or even offered a drink whilst they tied to sort it out - NO
When my wife asked for a glass of water this eventually arrived with bad grace - they just wanted us to leave.

Having been told that there was no free hotel rooms in the area, my friends wife went onto Booking.com and found 2 room for the 5 days we had booked at the Cheval Blanc, locally. 
If we could do this why not the "professionals"?

As we were waking to the cars to leave the manager rushed over to us to say he had found one room for one night only and seemed most disappointed to hear that we were not interested.

My point is that all companies make mistakes.
What sorts out the better from the worse is how they handle the problem.
Personally if an employee of mine handled this problem the way we experienced, they would not stay in my employment for long.

SO - long story bit I'm sure if everything goes well, this could be an average hotel (the food didn't look as good as I remember), But if there are problems they don't know how to handle it and don't seem to care a lot.             BEWARE

Lost booking - management didn't seem to care !   BEWARE

I had reviewed this hotel under the previous management and want to tell your readers that it is still an excellent stop-over. The rooms are as before -clean and comfortable. We chose from the 26.90euro evening meal and were more than satisfied with the food presented to us -good quality ingredients,, well cooked and nicely presented. We noted that the 3 course 3 choice menu of the day was also on offer in the evenings. Breakfast was little different from before - the only change that we could recall was no homemade jam - perhaps they have not had time to make any yet! We will be back.

As good as before

We were lucky enough to stay at his hotel in May.
My husband is unable to walk far but doesn't need a disabled room.
Luc offered us a room a few yards from the main building which had a large shower room, a double and a single bed which was very suitable.We booked 4 hotel nights to and from our visit to The Charente all at similar prices but this one come tops.  Thoughtful extras in the room made our brief stay memorable and would love to return.
Excellent well priced food makes it easy to recommend this establishment.    Thank you.

What a find.

Found that our prior booking en route home from Portugal did not disappoint. Lovely quiet village with nice walks. The welcome was warm, parking secure and the bedroom was comfortable despite coldish wet weather. Best of all was a friendly small Auberge type village restaurant where entire menu looked enticing - my wife and I chose differently but well and were entirely satisfied - a local recommended red completed an enjoyable evening. Recommended.
