Well let’s start by saying on a positive note that the location to Grand Place was perfect. However, no one there to meet and greet, no combination to the door lock for 30 minutes, 2 towels for 3 persons, NO shampoo in the dispenser, we were told whilst waiting for staff to turn up they would be 10 minutes, after a 6 hr cycle ride they never turned up and got in eventually with the help of a local translator and the fact that I was given the wrong code in the first place. No bedding for the sofa settee. Overall VERY bad experience.

Worst stay ever

Booked this propert on Nov 28th of Nov/€93  for a double room.Arrived at property at 7pm,no one there to meet us,filthy dirty property!!Dark skanky stairs!!No reception !!Waited for 20 min,no person appeared.No light in hallway ,so eventually decided best to book another property!!Do not book this property!!
IT is a disgrace that booking .com allow such properties on tbeir site.So disappointing when you are in a foreign country and cannot trust them!!I expect a full refunf from them or booking .com asap!! Regards K.Creedon

Very poor experience /L'Atrium.Bethune France 

Our first night in France after arriving via Eurotunnel. Good location very close to centre and managed to park for free across street. This is more like a B and B as there is no reception but accessed by key codes sent by text. All very efficient. The room itself was small but adequate with bathroom. Good Buffet breakfast included in rate served in the cafe below, run by the owner. Overall, excellent value at £65 all in for room and breakfast. 

Overnight stopover 

Easily booked through bookings.com, some 6 months prior to visit. Arrived and met by friendly staff who spoke a little English. Walked to the accommodation which was at the rear of the premises accessed via a key pad from a side street. Stairs up to a clean light and airy room, which was secured by a number code, with a huge bathroom and shower cubicle and fridge?!!! not stocked.
No coffee or tea making facilities in the room or a safe only one power point which was for the bedside lamp.
WIFI only available in the restaurant bar area, not in the room at the rear.
Breakfast next morning was a good selection of fresh bread meats, cheese usual continental fare plenty of choice.

Beware that the key coded door at the side is locked if you are out past midnight. Had to knock very loudly to raise a rather unhappy member of staff to be let in!!!

I was up relatively early the following morning, {Sunday} the front restaurant shutter was down at 0900hrs and no sign of life. Breakfast paid for was missed.

Following morning a note was left on my door in English giving directions through the building to the mezzanine function room where breakfast waiting, which was as good as the first morning although the coffee machine was tricky.

Overall, a clean decent sized room, good breakfast, and friendly staff. Ideally located for the main square in Bethune, with its ample selection of bars and restaurants.

This visit was planned for a couple. However my girlfriend was unable to travel.

4 Day weekend visit

My son and I stayed in the little 2 bed apartment in the courtyard,this weekend.It was very clean,warm and comfortable.I slept in the bedroom while my son had the fold down bed in the living area(already made up) and we both slept very well.Nice towels and decent loo paper.
I can't comment on the breakfast as we were not sure if it was included and we had read somewhere that it cost 9 Euros each,which we didn't want to pay.My son went out early in the morning and came back with delicious fresh,filled baguettes.
There was a coffee machine but no kettle,which wasn't a bother for us as I always take my kettle with me.
It was very central and parking was easy.We would stay here again.

Clean,warm and comfy.

I’ve waited a few days before writing up my review because otherwise I'd still be fuming. Ok – the positives. The room we had was large, a suite really. Sauna was small but good and bath with Jacuzzi and lights great. Breakfast next morning was good too – excellent coffee and good fresh baguettes and croissants and orange juice. So what was wrong? We were sold a pup. It took several emails before they acknowledged my attempts to book a room and a table for dinner for Sunday 28th September. On the website it says they are closed on Sundays but are open for reservations, so I specifically wrote saying I wanted to stay with them because their food looked so good. I finally got an email confirming a room and I wrote again, again reiterating that the reason we wanted to stay with them was because their food looked so good so was this reservation for a table for two for dinner, and a room for the night. Again, yes this was specifically confirmed. So we turn up and the author of the emails blandly tells us no, the restaurant is closed.  A man was there too – I think one of the owners or chefs. She said, in effect, oh dear how could this have happened. I said, slapping print offs of the emails in front of them, because you confirmed. He had clearly not seen the correspondence. But neither were exactly apologetic and we were left hanging. She offered a cold plate in our room – would you have accepted that? He cheerfully wrote down three restaurants on the square we could try. EVERY SINGLE ONE WAS CLOSED. Every restaurant in Bethune was closed – open for drink but not food. We ended up at La Halle, a very nice cafe on the square, eating the snacks they offered with drinks, a plate of good cheese and sauccison, and topping it up with frites from the local van, also consumed with red wine and much cheer on the terrace of La Halle. But we were cheated of the meal we’d seen on the website and had anticipated. And left feeling most thoroughly swindled. I wouldn’t have minded if she’d finally written to say no the restaurant was closed that night – we would have made other arrangements. I might even have been mollified if they’d made proper apologies and maybe admitted there was no food anywhere in town and took their responsibilities, having lured us there, by making us some food. This was so unprofessional and in the end, downright nasty.
