Peaceful, relaxing place. Exately, what promised on the pages. Could enjoy the pool on windy day. We enjoyed our staying habitation bougainville. Excellent situation, we used electric bikes. The wiew is breathtaken.

facts about this B&B that are NOT mentioned anywhere in their listing either in TripAdvisor or Booking.com when you make the reservation

1)  The check in time is 17:00 pm.

2) It has a PUBLIC TOILET outside your room 

3) They have one parking place and more than one room but still claim in the amenities that they have "free parking".

Add to that the the land lady emailed us to say that the check in is "around" 18:00 (!) and that we need to park outside or pay her addition 10 euros a day for parking...

After I called her and explained I will cancel the reservation if we cannot check in by 17:00 and get a free parking as promised she agreed to arrange someone to be "home by 17:00, 17:15" and not charge us for the parking.

Plus the place is located away from the center (which we knew in advance) but up a steep hill with NOT A SINGLE RESTAURANT WITHIN A WALKING DISTANCE (which we didn't know).

And we paid 125 euros per night, off season (end of September) in Marseille...


AVOID IT, NO TRUTH IN WHAT THEY CLAIM

This house is a great option for travellers who would like a home away from home experience. Gerald, Emmanuelle and William were so lovely and speak English (and many other languages) which was so great for us as we don't speak French.

The room was lovely and well appointed - we had a microwave, kettle, outdoor setting etc. My favourite part of the room was the shower, it is at the top of a small flight of stairs and set into the wall, very funky and different.

A French breakfast served on the balcony was delightful as the view from their home is AMAZING! It is a very quiet neighbourhood and very easy to sleep at night. It is a short walk to the beach and some great restaurants along the water. It is around 30 mins walk to the old port, but not for the feint hearted as it is very steep. There is a bus that runs into the city very often and your hosts will gladly give you directions to the bus stop.

Gerald is full of great recommendations, and he told us about a boat tour of the Calanques and we gladly took one! It was only 21 euros per adult for a 2 hour trip and the Calanques are just stunning. Emmanuelle is so friendly and full of life, she has a great sense of humour and loves Marseilles. William plays piano beautifully and he happily played requests :)

A home away from home

What a lovely place - Merci Emmanuelle et Gerrard!  The property comes by its name honestly - bougainville everywhere, as well as other lush flowers etc.  Superb view of the water and the city.... and a lovely swimming pool too.  Very easy walk or drive down the hill into the Centre of town.  Room was comfortable and well appointed.... 3 of us stayed there (a couple and teenage daughter).  Hosts are delightful, well-informed, and have charming sons - and between them speak many languages.  Overall a wonderful experience, and one we'll repeat next time we're in the Marseille.  Bon Voyage!

A Gem!

We stayed 4 nights and the the hosts were very welcoming. Hosts speak English so for non-French speaking travellers this is a plus. Good location and parking available (small car recommended because of narrow streets). Can walk to the beach or town. French breakfast on the balcony with a great view memorable.
