My husband and I had only one night to leave our kids and escape for our wedding anniversary. Never been to Bourges but wanted to be pampered and be in centre ville. This place was perfect. The room had ac and was clean and big. The best part was the large indoor pool that you can use. Anne and Frank are very nice. The theatre is impressive.

Very acceptable accomodation with musical treats . We loved it !
The adverse commenters must be either deranged , or paid by the opposition .
This is highly idiosyncratic charm .
There is an Ibis down the road if you like that sort of thing .

Highly Entertaining

We spent a night at this hotel en route from the south of France to Normandy. I have no words to describe my experience there apart from beautiful and bewitching.

I loved our room, with its original French windows and huge bed, there was even a hairdryer. Which was very useful after a late swim.

We ate a lovely leisurely breakfast, and were treated not only to see the incredible little theatre but also to a bewitching performance from Franck. We loved this place and will definitely return ourselves and I couldn't recommend it enough.

FYI it is a 10 minutes walk to the cathedral too.... Do I need to say any more. 

Speechless...

What a find. A boutique hotel, pool yes of course, but its own Theatre! Sadly no performance while we were there but having heard a CD of a recording featuring the owners Husband and  daughter in law we will be going back. The whole house was wonderful, our room spacious and luxuriously comfortable. A two minute walk into the old city where there are great restaurants and bars and of course shops not to mention the magnificent Cathedral and other cultural attractions.

A First!

Quirky doesn’t begin to describe staying here: it is a truly unusual experience. And we loved it. 

This is not a hotel but a bed & breakfast with an amazing swimming pool, its own private theatre (we had a guided tour and a short concert by Franck the proprietor and pianist) and astonishing furnishing and chandeliers. 

But the WiFi and showers are 21st century and brilliant. 

And then the breakfast: the platonic ideal of a French continental breakfast with fresh kiwi, juice, croissants, very fresh baguette, brioche, comte cheese, good coffee and three sorts of confiture made by Madame. 

Plus a good location and a little garden.

If you need a night to stay (or more) in Bourges go to this special B&B.  A beautiful large room and a special piano concert in the Théâtre.  We loved it and will come back. And Bourges is also a lovely city to visit.

We had booked directly with the proprietors and were in receipt of confirmation emails but when we arrived we were assigned  an alternative room which meant we had the Music Room with the 'ensuite' facilities at the bottom of a steep flight of stairs.  The shower room is absolutely tiny and certainly not what we were expecting.   It transpired that the owners had double booked and rather than get into bother with booking.com they allocated the suite to another couple.  Initially we were asked to pay the same rate as for the suite but the owner then agreed on the reduced price.
Breakfast was tasty and the theatre is certainly a bit different as many others have commented.  The owner was friendly and happy to suggest restaurants.
It is tricky to grade this accommodation as there are no simple amenities like tea/coffee making facilities and no public areas to sit in apart from the conservatory which is dominated by the pool.  When the owner is not around all the other rooms are closed off, which made it feel a little unwelcoming.
For the novelty factor of the theatre this is worth seeing but be careful which room you end up with because I can't help but feel our experience may have been a bit more positive if we'd stayed in the suite as anticipated.

Check your booking, you may not get the room you expect

Hard to find in traffic system of Bourges and couldn't get access as workmen had their van parked across locked gate, so it was very difficult to wait on busy one way system road - we had phoned with ETA,  but after 4 hour drive this was frustrating in the heat also. We were shown to room by the maid who was charming.  Room had grand piano, billiard table and seating area with personal items, books and files but we felt at any moment the occupant would return to claim their bed and there was no lock on the door.  It was too hot and very dark with too much traffic noise in this rather run down area of Bourges.
