Arrived early at hotel hoping I could leave my suitcase but was pleased to be able to check in and access room. However this was the first and only time I saw receptionist in person. There was a telephone number to contact if no one was on the desk but I had no reason to call. The room was large by French standards. I had booked a single room but this was a double room with a pull-out bed. Very quiet and a beautiful view of trees, mountains and stream to the back of the hotel. Television had loads of channels but none were in English. [No fridge or kettle] but all other en suite stuff. Didn't try breakfast but looked like a plastic tray of roll, croissant, butter and jam etc. Coffee from the machine. Microwave available in the lounge. Bed was made in the old fashion way with heavy eiderdown, sheet and blanket. All of which seemed to move in different directions during the night. Eiderdown a little threadbare. Mainly dark red décor. Had the atmosphere of old-fashioned hotel/room probably suited to an older person enjoying the ‘warm spa’ during the summer although warm enough in the winter with temperatures averaging about zero.

This is the cheapest hotel in Brides Les Bains, and you get what you (don't) pay for!  

Upside:  

At E56 per night for a double room, this is a good E100 less that he cheapest rack rate at the end of the (30 minute) bubble lift to Meribel (about 10 mins walk)

Room is functional: bed was comfortable, room warm, bathroom adequate, water hot.

Wifi free, and good reliable connection.

Downside:

Reception is only manned a couple of hours a day: RING THEM IN ADVANCE TO CONFIRM YOUR ARRIVAL TIME

Parking outside is very limited, and is on street and not secure

There is no breakfast served.

Hotel is very tired, and the servicing is not brilliant: there were dirty glasses and plates left untouched in the reception area for almost 2 days.

Bargain Hotel - But That is All

Excellent location, good wi-fi connection,everything you need, including DVD player and television as not a great deal to do in Brides! Landlord was great only saw a couple of times! 
Brides les Bain could be a lot better if the French attitude was a lot more polite towards us politer friendly Brits!!!!!

Strange smell

Rooms are smal, with old furniture but the mattress is great, the location next to the river offers a relaxing atmosphere, 5 min away from the lift, rooms cleaned daily and the wi fi is a bonus. No kettle in room but there is one in the lobby. 
Bare in mind that Brides les bains has very limited bus connections and get there by car as taxis cost a fortune.

We had an excellent stay for 3 nights. Bedroom and en suite were small but clean with fresh linen and good bed. No storage for skis but owner said to keep them in rooms and there was enough space. Very helpful owner offered to call cafe in albertville where we'd left a bag. Restuarant  next door excellent-nice food and good value. Easy ten mins walk to gondola station. Would stay here again.
