Arrived at the hotel after a longer than anticipated drive from Brittany. Welcomed by the pleasant lady in reception and went straight to our room which was just what we wanted. Comfortable, clean and well prepared. We had take away pizza from the little place round the corner and a really good night's sleep. 
Breakfast was a pleasure. 

Calm,restful.

The staff were very courteous but as we were only staying overnight we did not have much to do with the service, hence no rating. The air conditioner unit in the room was worked but not very efficiently and during the night it was very warm but overall excellent have used this hotel before and will recommend it and use it again 

Road trip to Spain with dog

We regularly stay at Brive on our way to Spain, its meets our requirements perfectly! clean, warm and friendly, plus dogs are allowed at Euro 5 each. Easy check in, good parking and only a few minutes from the motorway.

Another Great Stay

Sometimes travel is something you need to get done—an essential trip not for tourism or leisure but to get from one point to another. in these circumstances, why pay for an expensive multi-starred hotel when all you need is a shower, a bed, decent wifi, and a TV.  In my case, I was making a staged trip to the south of France as cost-effectively as possible with my newly imported classic car.

Looked at in these terms, the Ibis Budget Hotel chain in France ticks every box.  Yes, the rooms are highly functional with only basic home comforts. But, with a double bed and a mezzanine bunk above, they can easily accommodate a small family. Then there's the shower pod- a vacuum-formed capsule designed for efficient showering and easy cleaning. Pretty it may not be, but it does the job, and you can emerge cleansed and refreshed if somewhat uninspired.

This Ibis Budget sits at the edge of Breve's shopping/industrial park, so it's not a particularly pretty spot, but that isn't the point. However, a couple of eateries can be found nearby, including an American diner and the ubiquitous Buffalo Grill steak house. 

I took breakfast in the restaurant, a predictable continental buffet of bread, fruit, cheese, and machine-made beverages. There was little to surprise, but I had no complaints.  

So while I can't score the Ibis Budget Hotel highly for things like the decor or luxuries, I got precisely what I paid for, and it had everything you need for a quick stopover. A weary traveller can find a safe harbour here as it does its job well.

Finally, I must also mention one of the senior staff who helped me find some small parts for a repair I needed to do on my car.  Thanks, monsieur, for weighing in and helping me out of a difficult situation!

A Breve Overnighter

This hotel, situated in the middle of the commercial area, is just off the motorway, making it an ideal stopover. Carrefour is just down the road, with a filling station.
The hotel is very clean, tidy and the breakfast is perfectly adequate. They have a deal with Courtepaille, which is next door, giving a 10% reduction.

Good Location

Cheap basic hotel close to the A20 so useful for an overnight stop if you're driving from Northern to Southern France (or vice-versa); it's about half way..  Breakfast (additional cost) is served on the ground floor in, again, a fairly basic but inexpensive and acceptable restaurant.  If you arrive in the late afternoon / early evening, you can get dinner in the adjacent and slightly more expensive IBIS Styles accommodation.  Neither place designed for anything else than overnighting.  Sufficient car parking on-site for both establishments.  We'll be using it again this September.

Good Stopover

This isnt the kind of place you spend a weeks holiday but for one night whilst travelling its ideal. Close to the major roads its fine for one night. The rooms are fairly standard with a comfy bed and decent shower.

Good for an overnight stop

We stopped over here to break up a road trip at the height of summer vacation. We took our 6-year old in the bunk bed above our 2 single beds and put our 3 teenagers in the room next door with the same set up.

I had a real issue with the shower being IN the room. I’m not a prude but I value my Me Time. They actually claim this would be a great room to share with friends! Sure, if you have “that kind” of friendship (?).  

That being said, I slept exceptionally well.

We were up at 6:30 to avoid traffic & were able to have breakfast at the Ibis Styles next door which was quite decent, if you overlook the terrible, terrible coffee. There were pancakes, crêpes, brioches, fresh fruit & mini viennoiseries which were what we needed.

I took away a star because of the aforementioned shower issue, but this hotel does its job.

Does the trick

We booked this hotel because the website stated the rooms were air conditioned.
  
In our room, the aircon unit and its control panel were broken and plainly had been broken for some time.  I went to reception to report it, but the receptionist was unhelpful and not interested.  She told me the air conditioning was not working in a number of the rooms and there was nothing she could do about it.  She would not give us another room or call an engineer.  As I left a queue was forming at reception to report similar issues, so our room was not the only one.

The night-time temperature was 35C and I was travelling with my girlfriend who is asthmatic.  It was an unpleasant night.

When we got home I emailed Ibis to complain and to ask for an explanation.  They have completely ignored two emails – no acknowledgement, no reply, nothing.  I tried the dispute-resolution website Resolver and they sent three emails to Ibis, each one escalating to a higher level of management.  All were ignored.

Just something to be aware of before you book!

Give this one a miss

Having stayed at an Ibis Budget for the first time the previous night in Reims, we booked this one as stop off on our journey. It couldn't have been more different from our first experience!
The receptionist was sullen and unfriendly ( might have been even worse if you couldn't speak French!),  the room was in dire need of refurbishment and didn't even have proper sheets on the bed! When I asked about sheets, she had they had none but a maintenance guy overheard and went to get me some! The room was very cool on arrival and appeared to have aircondioning but later it was unbearable. There are no staff after 10pm so I asked next door at the Ibis Styles. I  was informed that there was no air conditioning and told to open a window! Her manner equalled the negative one of our earlier receptionist! 
Breakfast was basic and the whole area needs refurbishment. I definitely would not recommend this hotel and would be reluctant to use Ibis Budget again. Either the Reims one of the previous night needs an upgrade, or this one needs a downgrade!
