We stayed for just one night in August. This small b&b is located about 25 minutes walk from the old town and about 15 minutes from the new town.  There is ample free parking directly outside, we parked literally outside the door. The owners speak excellent English and couldn't be more helpful. Our room was interestingly decorated and featured a good size bathroom, it also included tea and coffee making facilities. The free wifi ran at a good speed. Breakfast was included and was a nice mix of fresh pastries and fruit.  Altogether we enjoyed our stay.

Nice bed and breakfast in convenient location

Having wanted to visit Carcassonne for years, I was lucky to have the chance to finally go--and luckier still to find this place.  I definitely want to go back to Carcassonne some day, and will be sad if I don't get to stay here again.   

The location of this place can't be beat.  It's just five minutes from the train station, which is where most people end up when they arrive.  While there is certainly a draw to staying in the old city itself, it is better to stay in a place close to the station for more reasons than can be named here. 

The experience of this B&B is very much like staying with a French family--which is pretty much what you will be doing, as the proprietors live there and it was originally a home for a family with at least four kids.  Breakfast consists of a traditional French breakfast, complete with jams and jellies literally home made by the owner's mother-in-law.  (Most of the negative reviews of this place seem to come from people expecting a five-star place--but why they would expect this from a B&B is beyond me.)  

The hosts were very warm and welcoming.  Get to know them!  You won't regret it. They were very helpful in their suggestions, and sent me to some great restaurants and sights.  To be fair, though, I am a fluent French speaker and there was no language barrier.  I did get the impression that there is more of a language barrier for non-French speakers.  While there, I did translate some between Monsieur and some of his English-speaking guests, which seemed to help everyone out.  

In short, stay here.  You won't be sorry!

One of the best places I stayed this summer

We stayed for three nights and can highly recommend this facility for a visit to Carcassonne. The owners were most helpful and friendly, the room spacious and comfortable, the breakfast very good and the location perfect and peaceful at night, as well as for exploring the town and surrounding attractions.

Nice and homely

Just returned from 7 nights staying at Maison Sans Frontiere..7 days is too long really for this area 3 nights would have been enough to see the historic attractions. We preferred the old Cite to the new.The Cathedral with Moscow singers was great.Fortress shops restaurants there were also worth seeing. New city some nice cafes and restaurants La Divine Comedie to be recommended good food and service.As 2 ladies alone at night in the new town not very comfortable. One other noticable thing was the amount of dog dirt in the streets. I assume there are no laws on this in Carcassonne.
Now to our accomodation;
Good points location to Canal du Midi and Railway station were good.Good bathroom with plenty of hot water
Marlene and Michel picked us up and dropped us off at airport for which we were very grateful.
Room was done in Sri Lankan theme not really to our taste but that was fine. Couple of books on Sri Lanka in room , a couple of books on Carcassonne would have been nice.
The bedding was very poor . Pillows had no life left in them. The orange sheets were on inside out and one had 2 large white bleach stains on it. The Aubergine covered duvet covers were old and needed replacing. The duvet on my bed was protruding out of cover and stained at the bottom..
But what really upset and disappointed us was the lack of customer care.
Marlene worked full time at the hospital so before she left on the Monday she asked us if we would pay up front as the money was required. We had no issue with this at all. She said Michel would look after us!
We arrived Sat 16th May. On the Sunday we were given fresh towels also on the Monday. Though we didnt feel we needed 2 changes so soon. However, from that Monday till we left on Saturday we were not given any fresh towels. There was no bin in the room so we used the little one out of the bathroom plus carrier bags. We had to take them down to Michel to dispose of as the room was never serviced . We had to go ask for toilet roll on 2 occasions.We were given 1 only each time. By the end of the week were keeping hold of any paper napkins to take back in case we needed paper in the night! The tea tray was not refilled at all we bought a jar of coffee ourselves. 
As Michel did not speak English we know communication may be difficult, but Thursday Morning we were so desperate to have our room serviced we did ask and he appeared to understand. We went out for a few hours came back . Room not sorted. We needed a toilet roll so asked for one. An hour later Michel opened our door and we said we were going out at 3 pm which we did came back at 8pm expecting the room to be done. Nothing done again!. 
We are ordinary ladies we dont expect anything special just certain courtesies good bedding, towels nice tea tray. Is it supposed that we live  that way at home I certainly hope not.
I can only assume that Marlene and Michel do not normally have people staying for 7 nights and I really wish we hadnt stayed that long . I just couldnt wait to get home. A holiday should have the reverse effect.
All these things could have been remedied with no effort whatsoever. We do feel we were let down.

7 DAYS IN CARCASSONNE

My wife and I have just returned from a three night trip to Carcassonne, where we stayed at the delightful Maison Sans Frontiere. Michel, the proprietor, was welcoming and helpful. We had the quirky Sri Lanka room, which is large and quite well-equipped for a guest house. The twin beds are comfortable.There is air conditioning if things get a bit hot. The adjoining bathroom is surprisingly large, and everything works! Breakfast is fairly basic, but adequate, and includes a range of lovely home-made jams. Very good value all round.

MSF is just five minutes walk from the main drag in the lower town, and about 10 in the other direction from the base of the Pont Vieux, across to the cite and chateau.

If, like us, you arrive by car, if you choose the right time to get to MSF you may well be able to park right outside. We certainly were able to.

Michel's helpfulness was exemplified by the help he gave to another guest, who had lost her passport and money. He couldn't do enough to help and was very understanding.

All in all, our stay at MSF far exceeded expectations, and I would recommend it without hesitation.
