Par Monts et par Vaux

How do you describe an experience that combines the beauty of a small French village house exterior with the inside conveniences and décor of a 21st century B&B? My wife and I were captured the moment we got there. And then there is Muriel; the host. She is by far the ‘icing on the cake”. We arrived a little early having driven from Cologne and not accurately assessing the time needed. No problem for Muriel. Our room was not yet ready but Muriel greeted us warmly, invited us in, and gave us on overview of the town and the area. She also provided us a recommendation for a walking tour of the town and a recommendation to visit the castle (now a winery) for a tasting. That fill in was wonderful and when we returned our room was ready for us. The room was spotlessly clean with a king size bed (extremely comfortable) and an en-suite bath area; toilet, large bath tub, and walk in shower. Plus, there was plenty of room for our suitcases (we were in the final leg of a month long trip to Europe) and temporary places for our day to day clothes. Breakfasts were extensive and high quality and Muriel was always there to answer questions or to provide recommendations. Metz, Nancy, and Domrémy-la-Pucelle (Joan of Arc birthplace) are all within easy driving distance (as is Luxembourg City). The B&B is quaint and luxurious and centrally located to wonderful areas to visit. We felt pampered, informed, and ended up totally impressed. This B&B is definitely one to remember and to revisit in our future travels.
