We had the chance to spend 2 nights in this place hidden in the back country triangle between the wine growing Gaillac area, the majestic medieval village of Cordes sur Ciel and the World UNESCO heritage town of Albi. This is a paradise gem that brings you back in the time of chevaliers while enjoying modern lifestyle by the pool! The rooms are spacious, light, clean and the place is so peaceful with only birds to wake you up from a merited nap after wine degustation! The very warmth welcoming owners are bilingual and can advise you on things to visit and taste around. A quick stroll leads you to a charming medieval village with another hidden gem: the Restaurant Lou Cantoun that offers a Michelin quality traditional revisited cuisine with home grown fresh produces! Definitely recommended for those who want escape a stressful life and be away from busy touristy places while enjoying for a moment "la vie de chateau" in a authentic french country side! 

An enchanting charming and welcoming hidden treasure

Once again we treated ourselves to a two night stay in Cestayrols with Jan and Murray Turnbull on our way south into Spain.  Chateau Cestayrols has a magical quality to it, almost suspended in time.  The warm stone walls, the full blown roses in the garden, the way the sun filters through the archways into the swimming pool, bliss.

Jan and Murray made us so very welcome, like a meeting of long lost friends.  Our room was cool, spotlessly clean with a big squishy bed and lovely high quality bed linen.  After a good night's sleep, we awoke to a delicious continental breakfast of local produce.   Home made muesli, fresh berries and melon, flaky croissant fresh from the oven and a huge pot of expertly made English tea.  (Murray has been a good student from our first visit and now has the art of tea making well and truly under his belt!).

This area has so much to offer, wonderful countryside dotted with ancient towns and quaint villages, packed with history and charm.  It is so unspoiled, but hidden away are some fabulous restaurants, bars and cafes that well and truly come up to and meet today's demands for excellent food and wine.

This place is a must,  a must not be missed. 

Another lovely stay

We stayed 3 nights at Chateau Cestayrols.  The owners, Murray and Jan were delightful hosts.  They were quick to respond to any questions and they provided us with a lovely breakfast every morning.  The B&B is part of an old Chateau and the rooms were comfortable and clean.  The bathrooms are modern.  The Chateau has lots of charm and has been restored with beautiful gardens and a swimming pool.  There is a common area for the 3 rooms which is a large and comfortable living room with good internet access.  The rooms do not have good wi-fi due to the thick stone walls of the Chateau.  The village is hidden behind the Chateau and is a delight to walk around.  Also, there is an excellent restaurant right next door, so you don’t have to drive after a nice meal.
The location makes it easy to get to Albi, Cordes-sur-Ciel and other hill towns, yet you do not have to put up with chaos that these popular places can have.

Lovely B&B in pleasant village near Albi

My wife and I first stayed once and loved our visit. Coming back again after nearly eight years, but alone, I was made to feel just as welcome and almost one of the family. 
With Albi and its glorious cathedral and Gaillac with its Mr Bricolage a short drive away there is much to do in the area and the small, but lovely village is well worth walking around.

Like a welcome home

We stayed for two nights and loved this beautiful B and B . From enquiry to when we left Jan and Murray were friendly and really welcoming . They booked the village restaurant for us one evening and helped us to find another restaurant for the second night . The rooms are beautiful the pool and garden lovely . Breakfast was great lots of fruit the traditional bread and croissants jams etc . All really good there was nothing to fault and lots to like . Thank you
