Probably the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. We didn't have high expectations seeing the pictures but the actual experience was worse than I imagined... We stayed only one night with my husband and 2 little children but I seriously feared for our health. I don't mind old furniture but the whole room was filthy, bed linen are dirty, old and smelly and I definitely had some insects crawling all over my body while tired to fall asleep. The bathroom has not been cleaned for years. Only one word can describe it: disgusting! To avoid in any case.

My worst hotel nightmare

We booked this hotel for just one night as we didn't want to drive home in one day. After reading many reviews, we were quite concerned with some cases we read about e.g. bed bugs and poor hygiene, so our expectations were quite low. 
When we hadn't arrived yet at 9PM, the hotel called us to make sure we weren't running too late. Upon arrival, an extremely pleasant lady helped us which made a good first impression.
The room (double) was up to its standards: two beds, ensuite shower&toilet and tv. Beds are comfy for one night and the curtains might pass through a little too much light, but nothing came close to the horrors we've read about! Definately a good place to stay for a night on a budget!

Basic, you get what you pay for but good experience

Hotel Syracrus booked we knew it was cheap so we expected  'basic'. The room contained a small  double and a single bed. A tiny shower room. It was pretty shabby, needed decoration and the beds looked as though they had seen better days. We are not fussy  people and it was an overnight  stop on the way back to Paris from southern France. My husband noticed the dust bed bugs first, combined with noise of mice in the ceiling.. I was already asleep  - he was  in a deleemer of whether to wake thus freaking me out  or letting me sleep. I realised just how infested the bed was when I woke up (wondering why he was sleeping in the single)., and noticed the bed crawling, every time you flicked them off they left blood on the bed . We had wondered when we arrived what the marks on the wall were blood, obviously where people had tried to flatten them.  We tried to get some sleep on top of the cover as fewer mites ventured to the surface . Husband who needed sleep as he had a 200 km drive to Paris slept on the single bed with no cover badly. I tried to sleep with him but was so disturbed it was impossible. No free Wifi as advertised and one small tower between two. It was truly disgusting . Avoid the Syracuse like the plague (of bed bugs). On the plus side it was cheap in price. Thet couldn't pay me enough to not sleep there again. My husband is covered in bites from head to foot, not a brilliant end to a wonderful holiday. I would recommend avoiding this hotel however low the cost. They also charged us on checking in, and no one around (surprise!) when we checked out. All in all disgusting, just glad we didn't have any kids with us in the 'family' room.

Bed bugs and basic

Just passing one week there, a supplier of ours booked some rooms there and we blindly joined them. The one and only good news is, that the hotel managers are very kind and helpful, but else there's not a lot of positive things to relate (free wireless LAN is somewhat standard these days).
1. The rooms are old fashioned and worn down to the minimum. Below the mattresses, you find a plastic layer (for which you might even start being grateful after examining the rest). The blankets are thin and raspy, the pillows slim and the cloth looks as if years old.
2. The bath rooms are in below average conditions. The showers are not at all hermetic... meaning that each shower you take leaves a wet traces outside which won't disappear, simply because there is no drain. Best case: it accumulates in the middle of the bathroom (as it was in my case). A colleague of mine wasn't that lucky, in his room, the water took the easiest way which was leading to his bed in the next room.
3. It looks as if the room was just "done" (if you can call it that way) once in a week (towels etc). The bed wasn't taken care of at all.
4. The breakfast wasn't worth mentioning (and not worth 8,50 € of course). Bad coffee, some croissant, baguette, some butter, marmalade and stuff. No cheese, no bacon, no eggs, the only "thumbs up" is for the orange juice.

Minor facts such as cracks in the window won't even matter given the prime issues of the hotel.

The comment of the local company staff was: "C'est nul!" and "Hotel de passe." (this is nothing - transient hotel...)

Guess this is enough good reasons for the rating, my advise would be to chose any stay other than that one if you have the chance to!
