Having previously stayed here twice before whilst travelling in France, my family and I had booked to stay once more.  Unfortunately our arrival at the hotel was delayed following problems on the Eurotunnel and we could not make the 8pm closure.  We expected to be 30 minutes late and offered to pay the overtime for a member of staff.  This offer was flatly refused by the owner and no alternative was offered despite further suggestions from us.  All of this when we made it very clear that we had already travelled a long way with two very young children and needed accommodation to ensure safe onwards travel.  The owner simply did not care.  She did however happily charge us 100 euros for a room we were not able to even use!  Thankfully, for the safety of my family we found accommodation elsewhere that night.  I urge you all to do the same.

Awful customer service and no customer loyalty - avoid.

This places tricky to find due to the one way system in Chalons, and you can't stop outside. There's no free parking, just a paying car park nearby. The staff were mainly great. The room was at the top of the building up three flights of stairs.  It was sweet and quirky: be warned the the bath is in the bedroom next to the bed! The air con didn't work very well and the sofa was broken. The beds were very comfy, coffee machine excellent and WiFi fast. Breakfast was ok. 

Interesting experience

The rooms are above a cosy tea-room so it is not evident to find. Staff were very friendly and helpful getting our large bags up the old fashioned wooden staircase. The room was unusual but very comfortable and clean. Nespresso machine, luxury tea and kettle all laid out for us. Good sized bathroom with all that one could want. Breakfast was delicious (especially the coffee). I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for modern comfort but in a boutique-style way. We chose it over all the other standardised or old fashioned offerings in town for a welcome change. And did not regret it one bit!

Querky, quaint and utterly charming

My husband and I stayed at La Maison de Marie Caroline for one night on our way to Provence. We were greeted by Madame who showed us to our room at the top of a rickety wooden spiral staircase. The room was spacious, with a lovely big bed and very quiet, no traffic noise at all, decorated certainly to the owner's taste with little touches everywhere.The breakfast in the morning was delicious with all you could wish for. The only downside to the place was that it wasn't easy to find as it was above a tea room. Also, from the bathroom in our room there was a little window from where you could see inside the bedroom, you could also hear very well all that went on in the bathroom! I would recommend this bed and breakfast

Quaint and different

My fiancé and I stayed here one night on our travels through the French Countryside. We were greeted by a staff member who was more than welcoming showing us to our room, helping with luggage (we were on a 12 day tour of the country with two full suitcases), and suggested where to park for free after we returned from out champagne tasting in Epernay. 

The room was beautifully and boutique with private bathroom, open windows to view of the quiet street on which it sits. Nespresso machine (with extra pods) and premium tea are in the room with fresh towels. Such a delight and breakfasts included all for a very affordable rate. We def recommend to travelers looking for a short stay in the champagne region. 

Note: local cafes and small grocery store are only a block away about 4 minute walk.
