Glad this two bit, nasty operation is dead. Full of lies from the start. The Chernobyl of chamonix - a disaster whose stain will never be removed. Get some petrol, light a match and send its taint back to Bhaal. Good riddance to you Linden.

A disgrace

Just back from a fantastic holiday in Chamonix.
All members of our family (6 adults and 4 kids) stayed at Claire´s chalet, so we had all the rooms in the Chalet.
Most of the reviews in this site really reflect the quality of the owners of the chalet, so I can only reinforce what already has been written:
-Nothing is too much trouble for Claire, she is easily the most helpful person I´ve come across while on holidays skiing.
-Food is amazing, great quality (and quantity!), we very much looked forward to dinner every day.
-Great location, 15 minute walk to Chamonix centre (Claire even offered to pick us up on the day we ate out so the kids would not be cold, thankfully they were happy to walk)
-Comfortable and spotless accommodation. I would perhaps mention the superb water pressure of the shower.
-Pascal (Claire´s husband) is a mountain guide and took 2 of us off-piste skiing one day, he did manage to find pockets of fresh powder despite the poor snow cover during our stay.
What else to add? My niece (5 y old) was afraid of dogs (I was a bit anxious about that) until she met “Izzy the husky”, now she keeps pestering my brother for a dog back at home. Izzy is very patient with kids and I did not feel worried about any accidents despite all kids chasing after her constantly.
The description of the chalet Claire advertises carefully reflects what we got, so the only surprises we got were good ones!
Despite poor snow we had a great holiday.
And just so it is clear... Claire is a SUPER HOST and FOOD IS AMAZING.
Have a great time, I know you will...

Great host, great location

If you are serious about skiing, this is the place to come. Simple accommodation with very professional owners, Claire and Pascal. They will provide good service, you will be well looked after and offer fantastic meals, in particular cheese selection. They will make you feel like you are at home, no fuss but great value. The location is great and Claire will, in addition, provide transfer and collection to the different ski areas. Meals shared with owners will provide interesting conversations. Great effort to provide, with no restriction on amount of food.
Highly recommended for those who like skiing and value a traditional chalet.

greeted by a warm welcome, friendly atmosphere  and a beautiful pet loving house.
After a long drive from England we were greeted with a lovely cup of tea and a lovely freshly baked cake ready on the table for when we walked in the door, also with a big warm welcome by the beautiful husky called izzy who is totally spoilt and extremely friendly.   
The chalet was immaculately clean with towels, and fresh toiletries laid out and ready. Hoovered and cleaned everyday by our host.  
The choice of a cooked breakfast or continental everyday, and a beautiful 4 course meal every night. Never had food so tasty and good felt like a Michelin star meal every time.
We were taken to slopes everyday and picked up at end of the day. Couldn't ask for more from a host.
The chalet felt very family orientated and very layer back atmosphere. 
Extremely helpful with areas to go for best snow and best weather to go skiing.  More than happy to accommodate any eating dietary requirements, and very pleasant throughout our stay.
Would definitely recommend this chalet to anyone who loves a kind, friendly, pet loving family stay.

Fantastic time by an amazing host

We do a lot of skiing every year, and several years now we have saved two weeks to catch Chamonix for the fresh snow in February and the sunshine in March.  When we come to Chamonix we always stay with Claire and Pascal.  Pascal is a mountain guide and over the years he has taken us to some fantastic places that we would never have dared to go ourselves.  He is excellent at pitching activities for the ability of his group - so we have been treated to stunning views from places inaccessible to most people, getting up close to the blue chunks of ice in the glaciers and of course the Vallee Blanche - other groups we know have been taken out for long days in the steepest couloirs, which is a bit outside my league!

Coming home each day to the chalet is also one of the highlights for us - fabulous tea with bread, home made cake and even a selection of home made jams.  Most chalets seem to have stopped bothering with home made cake now - but Claire is such a fabulous cook that she manages to find the time to do tea as well as get the essential prep done for dinner. 

It is probably a 15 min walk into town through the old village of Les Pecles - walking past fabulous old houses, and even the village pump - before you hit the bright lights of Chamonix with its designer shops and bars.  Claire usually serves dinner around 8pm, to give you time to nip into town for an aperitif - but if you don’t fancy the long walk, the very lively bar at the Vert Hotel is only a few hundred meters away.

I have never missed a dinner yet - during the summers, Claire usually takes catering assignments at the holiday homes of the 'well-to-do' in the south of France.  Consequently, she caters extremely well for vegetarians and carnivores alike - my husband chomps his way through lamb shanks and poussin and  I have the pleasure of deep vegetable pies, home made curries, even home made ricotta and spinach lasagne. This is the only place I have ever stayed where the starters have included quails eggs, and the puddings have included home-made lemon souffles and creme caramel!  I have picked up quite a few cooking hints and recipes over the years - and have learned a lot about French cheese from the cheese course!

The chalet is not for everyone - it is an old French building so the rooms are not en-suite.  However there is tons of hot water.  It helps to like dogs - although the lovely husky Izzy does not beg for food, she might expect to sit close to you near the open fire. Also, because there is only one mini-bus, Claire can only be in one place at one time - so (depending on the other guests) you might need to join them in an early start! (For those who like a later start it is worth noting that the number 1 ski bus leaves from The Vert hotel - so you can easily do your own thing).

The people we meet there time and time again are those who are serious about their skiing. 

Chamonix is not for everyone - if you like to ski from your door from dawn to dusk on steady groomed pistes of similar gradient you might be better going to the Trois Vallees.  However in 25 years of skiing throughout most of Europe and North America, almost all of our best adventures have happened in the Chamonix valley.

The thing I like about Chamonix is the variety.  The Grand Montets is the place for steep off piste.  If you are a bit tired you can go to Le Tour - the pistes are immaculately groomed on the front side and over towards Vallorcine there is some easily accessible off piste mogul territory in the trees worthy of any double diamond slope in the USA. Then, when it is snowing you can ski the trees in Les Houches, where the pistes are well groomed under the powder which is great for developing powder techniques (actually Les Houches is great for families and on its own is bigger than some Austrian resorts).  A bright clear day is definitely a day to ski Brevent-Flegere with its stunning views - a real sun trap.  If there is someone in your group who does not ski, they have the option of taking the Montenvers train to visit the ice cave and the Mer de Glace, and of course in town are the designer shops, the Saturday market, the cafes with their fabulous cakes and the lively bars.

Exceptional value, lovely place

Lets declare my hand: I am a regular and have been coming back to stay with Claire and Pacal for the last 15 years. Why? Simply because I think it is one of the best places I have ever stayed; anywhere.  In an era when the small, independent chalets are fast disappearing Le Bois Prins represents all that is good about a small privately run chalet and Chamonix itself.  Ok so the rooms aren't en suite, and the chalet is up a small hill off rue le pec (one of the prettiest old roads in Cham), which when there is snow in the valley means a 2 min walk uphill from the road. And if you are allergic to dogs (the adorable and much loved Issey, a small Huskey who lives in) probably won't be a main attraction. 
But it is clean, the food is superb and plentiful (I have never known anyone to go hungry here!), the beds are comfortable and the views - south facing towards the aiguille de midi - are simply one of the most inspiring mountain views anywhere in the world. Moreover,  Claire and Pascal know Cham backwards. Claire has been here 20+ years and Pascal is a French UIAGM qualified Mountain Guide.  To the initiated Cham can be a confusing place. Their local knowledge is invaluable explaining the various ski areas and where is best to ski depending on the conditions.  Pascal is also a superb guide if you fancy some off piste.  
Laid back, relaxed, friendly and amazingly good value it's no surprise that I and a host of other 'regulars' come back year after year. Consequently there is often someone in the chalet to ski with who knows the resort well. It's definitely quirky and to be honest won't suit everyone. High heels are not top of the to bring list. But if you love skiing and want to stay somewhere great but not spend a fortune you should give it a go. Who knows you may also become one of the regulars for whom Cham gets under the skin....
