This short stay was a truly Relaxing break on our trip through France.

Nice welcoming, large rooms ( we tried Masai and romantic, this one with steep staircase) and the best, a swimming pool in scorching hot weather. Children and we loved it!

Pretty garden and very interesting potager of which we tried a massive courgette, gift from our host’s husband.

Breakfast was in French style : delicious homemade confiture, lovely pastry and bread. Nice coffee.

Our host kindly booked a nice restaurant nearby for evening. Eating in the state is also possible at around 20 eur pp.

We also liked the quiet and pretty country landscape around the property as we preferred staying away from Tours/ urban environment for dinner.

Just one thing to improve: check in as from 17:30 is too late.

Relaxing break in long trip through France

This short stay was a truly Relaxing break on our trip through France.

Stayed at La Carriere on our way south. Arrived later than planned due to heavy traffic but the owners welcomed us and made sure we were settled. We stayed in the Celtic room which was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was served outside in the courtyard, which set us up well for the day. If making the same journey again would definitely return.

Great stay

My daughter and I stayed in La Carriere and we loved our room, the courtyard, every part of La Carriere. The breakfast was delicious and extensive. We appreciate the care we were given during our stay. All was perfect!

We loved our room

We stayed here for one night after reading a few positive reviews on another booking site. After 5 weeks of travel we'd stayed in a lot of different places not just in France but in various other countries. I travel a lot and have to say that nearly everyone I encounter in the hospitality industry is friendly, helpful and welcoming. I've never had to write a review before to be critical of a host. The rudeness experienced from the host, Patrick, was quite incredible. As in dozens of other bookings I had made this year, I booked for 2 adults and did not mention our 3 year old. Fair enough, I probably should have, even though she shares a bed with her parents. The host expressed surprise I had not informed them and told us we would need to pay an additional 15 euros. When I mentioned that she shares a bed with her parents, Patrick said that she would be using the toilet and taking a shower. Not a great welcome and it was done in a very off-hand, accusing manner. Most certainly not the way to speak to a guest. It got worse from there. The property has a small pool. I noticed a lengthy notice that covered the pool in our room. It was written in French and I did my best to follow the "rules". Our daughter sat at the edge of the pool and I sat down beside her. There was another family in the pool at the time. Patrick ran from his house and shouted across the garden. "Did you not read the rules". Again, if they need me to sign a waiver before using the pool, that's fair enough, but he was shouting at us in front of other guests and accusing me of not following his instructions. I mentioned they were only in French. He returned with an English version. I said I did not understand all of the notice in French and that the English version was not well translated. "Well.. I am French" he said. I was very close to leaving at this point but decided to stick with it. Fortunately there was no more interaction with the awful Patrick. The man is clearly in the wrong business and has no idea about how to interact with his paying guests. 

The property itself was fine but 113 Euros for a B and B with a very poor breakfast was on the high side. I can't recommend this place to anyone.

Rudest Host of 2015 award goes to La Carriere

Arrived with no booking and they were so friendly and helpful. A bit of French helped but still very charming and helpful hosts. A double en suite room (with shared kitchen) for 67 euros, including breakfast seemed a great deal. Local restaurant L'Esperance in Charentilly did a delicious dinner, even if we were practically the only ones there. Would definitely recommend.

Amazing price and quiet time - especially for what was meant to be a stopover.

Called at La Carriere, late, without a reservation, tired and hungry.  

Patrick and Beatrice, were wonderful. Accommodation was provided in the Celtic Suite, which was just beautiful, plus an excellent meal, which all made for a most memorable stay. Only problem, we stayed for just or one night, but it was one of the highlights of our holiday.

First class, friendly, the perfect chamber d'hotes to stay, wish it had been longer.
