Just back from a week skiing in Chatel, stayed at the Hotel Bienvenu, would definitely go back again. Everything was spotlessly clean, the room was lovely and warm and there was always hot water to soak in the bath. We had only booked B&B but ate in the hotel 3 evenings once fondue and twice menu of the day and the food was very tasty and good value. 
Great location, just a few minutes walk down the road there are ski hire shops and the Petit Chatel chair lift. If you don't want  to start or finish your days skiing with that lift the free busses stop right outside the hotel which allows lots of access to the other parts of the area. The village has plenty to offer and it is a fairly gentle 20 minute walk back up the hill hill (its not steep) after your evening out.
The owners and staff were very friendly and helpful. As mentioned in previous reviews facilities are not that of 4 star luxury accommodation we too had a hand held shower and no curtain and the Wi-Fi is free but not great but if you go with realistic expectations for the cost and rating of the accommodation and I do  not think you will be disappointed with a stay the  Hotel Bienvenu.

We would go again !

Stayed here in March as a large group (8 people) and it was fantastic. The rooms were basic but food was awesome - we even had raclette and fondue one night all in the price. Service was also really good, everyone was friendly and helpful. Biggest bonus was the fact the hotel is less than 2 mins walk to the ski lift. It is a good 15-20 mins uphill walk from the town centre though - so bit of a challenge after a few beers on the night, buses only run until 7pm. 

Really great hotel - basic rooms but amazing service. 

Stayed for 6 nights in Feb half term week with my 3 daughters in a room for 4. Good location, very helpful staff and good food, if slightly limited choice.

However, room decor needed an update (too much brown!), my ensuite bathroom only had a hand-held shower, with no curtain, and the wi-fi was very poor - way too slow.

But overall we had a good time, and ratings have to bear some relation to price paid, and this place was much cheaper than most ski resort hotels.

Good for the money

I have just returned from 5 nights in the Hotel Bienvenu Chatel.  I had a lovely time.  I was staying there on my own and the owner and staff made me feel very welcome.  The hotel is very comfortable and clean and it was lovely and warm.  The dining room was very bright and pleasant and the food was nice.

The bus to the ski lifts is right outside the door of the hotel and runs every few minutes.  Many thanks for a lovely stay.

Hotel Bienvenu

As its only a 2* we didn't expect much, we were presently surprised. By the location, 2 minute walk to the ski lift and ski hire shop, a great pizza restaurant. And if you want to use either of the other ski lifts, or go to town, the free town bus picks you up right outside the hotel (runs every ten mins). If you don't want to go out on an evening, they serve a different set menu each night. Have to say I'm a very fussy eater, really guys the food was just the best. Home cooked too. 
Breakfast was simple, but you could choose something off the menu if you wanted. 
They is no lift, as its only has  2 floors, 3 if you included the lower floor where the ski boot room is.
The owner and staff pride themselves on cleanest, and boy is it clean. You'd be hard pushed to even find a speck of dust. Comfortable, warm rooms. No hair dryers, (but the staff offered us their personal ones). It didn't take that long for our hair to dry naturally. Will be going back at some point with out a doubt. We will be calling them personally to book again.
