Hôtel Saint Nicolas

On a very cold early March night, I arrived bedraggled having cycled over from Dieppe and cut in from the Avenue Verte. It was raining solid and finding the place especially in the dark is not easy.. The manager / owner had thoughtfully left a note saying the keys were in the room door. This obviated a need to ask a question - will the cycle itself be safe - it was , inside the room too. I don't know whether it's official policy , there were no comments in the morning when I wheeled it out and ' le patron ' was very amenable for general friendly chat. Hotel is very quaint, thick stone walls , the room was very warm and clean. Low cost breakfast although baguettes and croissant re-heated. Mattress had seen better days. There was no sign outside denoting the hotel's presence.. I asked a passing Frenchman where it was - turns out he lived right next door , and had not heard of it. There is a general supermarket diagonally across the road with good stock of provisions , even gas bottles for those who need them. Recommended
