We nearly didn’t come as I didn’t read the reviews before I booked. We spent the entire journey worrying what we’d find when we got there but we shouldn’t have. 

We are staying in 538, a premium cottage. Is it a little tired, yes. Is it clean? Yes.  Does the separate toilet smell a bit as per other reviews, a little, I won’t lie.  It’s not a sewer type smell, and it’s just that one room, but it is spotlessly clean so I’ve just put an air freshener in there.

I’m majorly OCD so having read the reviews, I came armed with cleaning products and having wiped down all the major surfaces, there were no dirt marks on the cloths so the cleaning teams had obviously done their job.  Do the walls have the odd bug splatter on them? Yes, but I’ve stayed in 5* hotels that have those too.

We have regular visitors to our patio every morning, ducks, small birds and this morning, 4 peacocks. If you love nature, it’s a great place to be. They sell sunflower seeds in the very well equipped onsite supermarket, so we’ve been feeding the wildlife.

Our 8-year old has to be dragged out of the Aqua Mundo every day, he loves it. The water temperature is absolutely fine, and I’m a cold ass. Slides are brilliant, the river sauvage is amazing too. 

The dome is lovely.  We haven’t cooked but next time (and there will be a next time), I would probably bring an air fryer and a small washing up bowl to use in the sink. I’d also bring a bath mat and a drying rack (although there is a small one in the bathroom that pulls out over the bath).

There’s an eco McDonalds, an Italian restaurant, a posher French restaurant and a buffet restaurant. We’ve tried them all and they’re all nice. There’s a bakery next to the supermarket which is open till 2pm if you want pastries or fresh bread, once again, it’s lovely.

We’ve been to the farm to see the goats and pigs, taken a boat out onto the lake, played mini golf and done loads of walking. There’s a fitness trail round the lake with outdoor gym equipment if you’re into that sort of thing.

Then there’s the fun factory. It’s soft play hell for grown ups, but our son loves it, and there’s a bar, so you can have a glass of vin rouge and drown out the sound of kids enjoying themselves.

Some reviews have been really scathing of the park, and whilst I understand why, the park itself is lovely and brilliant for children. If you’re expecting a 5* hotel experience, it’s not going to happen, but if you’re open minded, love immersing yourself in nature and want loads of activities for kids at a very good price (UK Cps were  3x the price for Easter week), then go for it!!! We stopped in Arras to break up the journey from Yorkshire.

Staff are all lovely and whilst they don’t always speak English, most of the reception staff do and I got through just fine with my limited French. I always think if you try to make the effort, even if it’s basic words, they’ll often to reply in English.

Loved it!

As always we had an amazing time ! this is the first time we are visiting this specific park, we were a bit worried due to the reviews, and luckily our experience was great!
-the cottage was perfect *premium, very specious and comfy, everything one can need was there, clean, and very functional.
 -the staff- since the first moment of check inn staff was kind helpful and fast,yes, a bit of a language beerier but with enough of good will we managed  to understand.
-the park- very very pretty and relaxing. lots of stuff to do.

**maybe a bit better maintenance of the kids play area, a bit worn out,need some updated.
** check inn at 3 pm and check out is at 10, its latterly loosing a whole day.considering the prices you pay check out should be a bit later on, or find a solution's to people who came with a dog and cant stay the day at the park because its prohibited to go inside ant place with dogs, even just the dome market, which is not fair considering you pay quit a lot for a dog in your booking.
overall we had a wonderful Christmas holidays!

amazing experience

Very relaxing athmosphere and beautiful park and comfortable cottage with very good beds, but the hot water in the shower and the bubblebath did not work very wel only slightly luke warm to cold. Vip cottage is not worth the extra money, but if the bath facilities function properly that  woud help a lot. 

Beautiful park, no hot water in the shower

Really a mixed experience.  On thé plus side it wasn’t the french holidays so the park was pretty empty by normal standards, this meant low queues for slides in the water park, not too busy outside and around the park.

The water park is great. Really nicely done out, great river sauvage, nice cold pool and big hot pool, plenty of variation.

Apartment (premium cottage) was as usual more than acceptable and really in wildlife, we had peacocks and squirrels outside the door each morning.

But it did come with some downsides: the main slide was shut, a couple of the resteraunts were shut, and some things closed early.  This wasn’t a big deal though.

The main gripe we had was with pricing vs quality.  Unless you head out there is no competition and Centerparcs and while we don’t mind it but there are limits.  The pricing in the Italian is the same as we experience here in Switzerland, one of the worlds most expensive countries.  The supermarket - carrefour - on site has prices racked up genuinely higher than we would accept - six euros for a small pre packed lunch salad for example.

There is a McDonald’s on site but we had to actually complain at our McFlurry deserts that were less than half full and 5 euro’s each. We are really not that demanding people but this was just cheating. They reluctantly put a small amount more ice cream in.  There is no completion and it really, really showed.

Our breakdown for advise is:

1. Treetop adventure - pricey at 30eur each but is we’ll done.
2. Mini golf outdoor - 10 euros each person - complete robbery for a family of 5 to ask for 50 eur to play on a fairly bashed up crazy golf course.
3. Badminton - good value.
4. Archery - good but quite short.

The gold medal though goes to the jetons to play arcade games or pool. Never ever have these been more than one euro and now they went up to 1.5eur per jeton with many games costing 2 jetons.  For me, this is just too much by a distance and given this is meant to be a holiday for families is ratcheting up profit before the brand statement .

Nice park but too much profiteering.

spent a few week there during the summer to squeeze in another holidays for the kids. we had a good week but not sure we will return in the near future (make sure you book the higher room categories...)

the positives:
- plenty of entertainment for kids and adults
- very nice location in a forest setting
- nice water doom
- easy to get around but still spacious

the negatives:
- very loud even later in the evenings. you just have too many ignorant people that sit outside their places screaming, singing, etc.
- no AC even in the highest category bungalows
- restaurant options very bad (we ended up eating McD for a new night for lack of options)
- very very very crowded in main areas like the water doom, etc. 
- bungalows felt a little worn

Great for kids but super noisy

We spent a week in a Premier accommodation, which was not as fancy as it sounds.  The kitchen was very basic, the sofa and rug were badly stained, half the door handles were hanging off, a previous occupant's dummy (pacifier) was under the bed, and there were so many blood smears and dead bugs stuck to the walls & ceiling.  
There were far fewer acitivies than at UK sites, and fewer dining options, although the buffet option (30€ per adult was really good quality food).  The lifeguards did nothing to stop tiny kids going down the Wild River so we'd often end up smacking in to the side walls or holding back to try & avoid taking out kids who clearly couldn't swim.
Not sure if I'd rush to do a French park again.

Good, but not great

We’ve been regular visitors to Centerparcs over the years. So compared to other sites, this one is not much different, broad offering of activities, nice grounds, and considering COVID-19 there was still plenty to do. 
Two items that need attention:
- Cottages need better cleaning. We found our cottage quite dirty: dusty/sticky floors and bathrooms; and even the cleaning tools (brooms and vacuum cleaners) provided were dirty. So had to do extra cleaning not great of vacations. 
- Capacity at Aquamundo should be revised during COVID. First, the park and staff take all the right measures to comply with regulation and limit spread of the virus: hand sanitizer is widely available, social distancing reminders are placed everywhere, traffic flows are well marked and mask wearing is compulsory in all indoor spaces and some outdoor activities. The challenge is that once people enter the AquaMundo all these precautions go ‘out of the window’ so to speak, there is too many people inside the pool area to respect social distancing in the pool, water slides queues and the outdoor river. Perhaps the park should limit attendance or set-up a schedule to make sure not too many people are in the pool area at the same time.

Cottages need better cleaning and Aquamundo was more crowded than expected

We had a renewed VIP cottage, it was as described and we had no issues, although it was a little dirty in the kitchen dinning areas. This was expected after reading numerous reviews. The parc was as described we hired a golf cart as our cottage was a fair distance from the Dome, it pricey but definitely recommended. My daughters wanted bikes on day 2 this was quick and easy and relatively cheap. The disappointment was the Dining options, Most restaurants closed, the Italian was open day 1 and 2 then closed for the rest of our stay. i wall say the quality of the food is good in the Buffet restaurant and the service is very good. The stand out is staff very friendly and efficient. Would i return, probably in a few years when Covid is not an issue.

Culinarily disappointed

Could have been a nice park when they would actually clean the cottages, keep the manure out of the walking paths and would do some basic maintenance. In the weekend the park turns into a parking lot and loud music can be heard until 3 or 4am.  To the staff guests seem to be a nuisance at best. 
And as long as people are willing to pay for it, they will continue to ask ridiculous premium prices for a subpar experience.

Premium money for a worn-down resort

We stayed here as a family of four and overall it was really poor. The accommodation (a premium cottage) was dirty and smelly, some activities were ridiculously expensive and food options very limited.
