We were staying in Lons-le-Saunier and noticed this hotel and restaurant as we drove out toward the Cascades du Herisson on our first morning. That evening we drove to the hotel for dinner. We were given a charming welcome and shown to our table which was nicely situated in the dining room with a good view from the window next to our table. We were quickly ensconced with aperitifs and menus. We chose one of the set menus. I ordered the Menu Hostellerie at €29, choosing the Croute forestiere followed by filet de sandre and finishing up with pears poached in red wine. We ordered a bottle of local white wine with the meal and finished up with coffee.
The entire evening was a wonderful experience, with friendly and considerate service, superb dishes with carefully chosen accompaniments and first rate wines. We had had such a great meal that we reserved a table for the following evening, which was equally as good as before and proved that our experience had not been accidental.
To sum up, excellent food, quality wines, very pleasant surroundings, top class service and very good value for money. When we left I assured the owner that the next time we came to Lons-le-Saunier we would be staying at his hotel.

Quality restaurant

We booked this room via Internet after checking it would have a restaurant (since it's a bit away from any centre with restaurants). According to their website the restaurant would be open 7 days a week. When we arrived (around 6PM) everything was closed, but that seemed normal for a French restaurant. However, when we went to check at 7:30PM everything was still closed! We ended up calling the people (reception was unmanned) and they told us the restaurant was closed and we would need to drive into Lons to get a meal. Pity their website did not mention this closure, nor were there any notices on the door.

Small double room overlooking side car park. Very basic furnishings.
First evening meal mediocre, no second evening meal (on Sunday) as restaurant closed. Booked for 2 nights, on half board - no mention of this. Had a better meal in Strasbourg Brasserie in Lons!
Breakfast very poor both days, even by French continental breakfast standard. 
Definitely not 2 chimney, 2 cooking pot Logis de France quality.
Disappointing.

Seen better days.

This is a handsome building updated but retaining traditional French style.  Room was clean and spacious with a smallish, though completely adequate bathroom.  Bed was comfortable.  There was quite a lot of noise from the main road it is on, even though we were in a side room, so if you are a light sleeper take your ear plugs.  We had dinner in a lovely covered terrace.  There was good food and a range of menus.  We arrived very tired and ended up paying for the room and dinner separately rather than demi pension as we had booked (which would have been a lot cheaper).  We had come down to dinner without checking our booking and they were insistent that we chose from the menu.  A little bit disappointing as it coloured our attitude slightly.  The food was very good.  Breakfast was served in traditional French way (ie not a buffet) and was very good and in a lovely traditional salon.

Pleasant hotel spoiled by noise

We stayed in this hotel for one night on our way back from a skiing trip.  The hotel is very clean, the decor is modern yet  still in keeping with the age of the buildings and the beds are very comfortable. The bathrooms are not high spec (but then I wouldn't expect them to be at this price). What's best about this place is for me the restaurant.  A good choice of menus, all beautifully cooked and presented and fantastic value for money.  Overall, a little gem of a hotel in the beautiful Jura region of France.
