Lovely! Amiable owners and staff, low-key, family atmosphere. Perfect for children. The place needs some attention here and there, but that also adds to the charm. The rooms are comfortable and the bed we slept in (Cocooning room) was very good. Dinner and quality of food are excellent. Surely coming back again when we can! Merci beaucoup!

Charming, lovely little getaway!

The family room was very large. The overall appearance was very pleasant. The beds were comfortable. The breakfast was nice - very typical french breakfast with croissants, pastries, bread and home made jams, the coffee was good.
 · The bathroom was a little odd with a very large shower dominating the room and you needed to shut the curtains in order to prevent other guests seeing you in the shower.  The pool could have done with cleaning - it wasn't dirty but there were lots of things floating in it. The room we were staying in was accessed via a small and slightly wobbly spiral staircase. This made it difficult to carry our large suitcase up and down.

Nice hotel, large family room

Booked on booking.com as a stopover on our way from Marbella in Spain back to the UK by car. We'd planned 4 early morning starts to arrive at our next destination early pm. Arrived here at 3pm to find the place deserted, all locked up and no one available to ask. Moved onto Poitiers only to have their conditions pointed out as check in after 17.30 so no refund ! Who does this ?

Place was very tired, owner had told us by email they "didn't eat on No days" so neither could we.

Really wouldn't have wanted to stay - it was spookey !!! But what an attitude from a hotellier of sorts.

Forget it !!!

I’m giving this top marks, mainly for the food but a very few small things would make this place even more amazing. It’s in the middle of the French countryside so you need a car, but if you eat & drink there then you don’t have to move. We stopped over on our journey back to the UK from Portugal & it was my partners birthday, the weather was fabulous so we made use of the lovely warm pool whilst enjoying a reasonably priced bottle of champagne on the terrace. The set menu dinner was exceptional & good value, with an extensive wine menu. The room we had was amazing absolutely huge, there was no shampoo or much soap but the owner gave me a bottle, and the toilet was stuck off on its own so you had to go to the shower room to wash your hands, the spiral stairs to the room were a bit scary, and the wasps in the roof were too but strangely they didn’t come near us, but none of this spoilt a truly relaxing stay. The owner was very friendly too & let us in earlier than the check in time.Breakfast was included, basic but still nice.

Great stay & restaurant 

Stayed here on a European road trip. Accommodation was stunning, we were in the converted barn part. Everyone connected with La Grange, that we came in touch with, were very friendly. The swimming pool is well maintained and was ideal as the weather was extremely hot. As good as the accommodation was the restaurant was even better. We were served top quality food which was excellently presented and cooked by a chef with a passion for food. My steak was as good as any,better than most, that I have been served on my global travels. Our waiter,Nicholas, was professional but also had a great sense of humour. La Grange is in a remote part of the countryside so you need transportation to visit. Anyone who is on a European road trip should visit the restaurant and I recommend staying overnight as well. A big thanks to everyone connected to La Grange for the way your establishment is run. 

Fantastic establishment 

La Grange got good reviews on TripAdvisor, and looked a good spot. It turned out to exceed all our expectations.

Set on its own, deep in the heart of the Gironde countryside, La Grange is a stone-build Charantaise manor house, with some rooms tastefully added. We were in La Tonnellerie - the old Cooperage which has been extremely tastefully renovated. Modern and minimalist inside, with a huge space, large comfortable bed, and generous shower and bathrooms.

The inclusive breakfast next morning was wonderful, with a selection of meats, cheeses, fresh breads and croissants and homemade confitures.

A wonderful stay, and of course, the adjoining restaurant was one of our best-ever meals.

€90 for bed and breakfast was very good value. Friendly service, great food. Absolutely recommended - and make sure you have an evening meal too!

Wonderful blend of old and new

Chose this place as it had its own restaurant. Arrived at 6pm looking forward to parking the car and enjoying a beautiful meal on site! NO! We were advised that they had decided to start their holiday that day so we had to drive to a nearby village for a meal. There was another couple sitting there waiting to eat in the restaurant (they had enjoyed a beautiful meal the night before) and they were shocked to learn that there was to be no meal. We all enjoyed a meal together at La Rialto but it wasn't what we had expected or booked. The room we had would have been great for a family and the breakfast was excellent. We were disappointed though!
