We spent 2 nights in this little hotel. For the negative points it would be at the entrance of the hotel which even if it makes a little detour from the parking lot should only be done by the front of the hotel and not also by the back because crossing a room with a baby alone crying and the laundry dragging it does not do very professional so it is also better to avoid... The reception that is not very warm and sometimes we do not even family at the entrance of the hotel so we find the night to improve a little too... The breakfast in which we did not have a charceny and offers a place to eat the veal and the bread was very fine to be sour from the day (although there was a bakery) then we will not even go far away from the yogurt, but we must not have come back to the hotel, but we have not been to the hotel, so we will not have to go back to this very small restaurant.

Good quality price ratio

Hotel near the canal, welcoming of available owners, home kitchen, the kindness of the chef who comes out of his kitchen to greet his guests and ask if we enjoyed the meal

It's perfect.

The car park is about 50 metres from the hotel and having damaged my leg I was struggling a bit. 
As I approached the hotel the owner appeared and immediately offered help. He took me to the back entrance which is disabled friendly.
By the time i reached reception he had spoken to his wife on reception and allocate dme a disabled room.

the room on the ground floor (just one small step) was superb with a very disabled friendly wet room and toilet.
I made my way to the bar and wanted to use my laptop.  They immediately found a power socket that i could connect to.

Dinner was superb and breakfast fine

Not the ritz but a very nice hotel with friendly staff. I will return

We arrived on bikes, soaking wet, mid afternoon. They could not have been more friendly or helpful.
Our big room was a bit old fashioned but ... does that matter?  We were overlooking the road but were not disturbed by traffic.
Dinner was very good too: good choice and regional dishes.
Precisely what we were looking for.  

Simple and straightforward

The breakfast at 10 euros is a real scam; everything is bad, from coffee to wine shops and bread. Oranges without juice, no water and snacks that don't make you feel hungry.

Three months.

Hotel, ideally located and warm reception. Good size, clean, well equipped, well soundproofed, good bed. A diverse and abundant breakfast. Good quality restaurant, splendid dishes, well presented. I highly recommend it.

Step to visit the area

We stayed here while cycling the canals. True, the office was closed when we arrived and didn’t open until 4:30, but we expected that. There was locked storage for the bikes. The room was clean. The lighting was good for reading. The wifi was good. The staff was helpful. The breakfast had many features absent in other small hotels - gluten free crackers, fresh fruit, etc. we were not disturbed by noise from the street below. I would be thrilled if the remainder of our accommodations were as good. 

Better than the reviews suggest

We were very well received by the entire hotel staff, conveniently located along the Loire Canal. Excellent breakfast (pressed orange juice, cereal, charcuterie, cheese, yogurt, wine), clean room with climate, well equipped and soundproofed.

Quality hotel

Unfortunately arriving in Decize by train in the late afternoon we were not aware that taxis were a rarity! Finally we got in touch with the hotel and they were kind enough to come and pick us up which involved 2 trips for the 5 of us and our luggage. This is a small hotel and the receptionist was the one who came for us.The rooms are small but very adequate with free wifi. We arrived late and hustled into the dining room before it closed, only to find it filled with locals which is always a good sign. The food was delicious, simple and fresh and the service delightful. I believe that the hotel is basically family run and they are friendly and go out of their way to be helpful. It certainly wasn't expensive and offered more than what could be expected in their hospitality

Rural Family Hotel in France

We booked this hotel via Expedia.  We arrived at 2300, to find the hotel locked, and closed.  We called the phone number, and received no answer.  Only then, in the fine print at the bottom of the Expedia reservation confirmation, did we see the instructions that check in closes at 2200.  No mention was made DURING the booking process.  My contact profile was fully up to date, and no effort was made by the hotel to contact me.  The reservation was fully pre-paid, and the confirmation stated "Guaranteed for Late Arrival."  Because Decize is a small town, we ended up having to drive 30 minutes to Nevers to sleep, after driving for nine hours to arrive to Decize.  

I accept that we should have read every single word of the booking confirmation - on the other hand - this is a HOTEL - and it is reasonable to expect a hotel to be STAFFED.  Even if not, the hotel could have taken the initiative to call us, or to contact Expedia, when they were about to close at 2200 and a PREPAID guest had not arrived - but no effort was made.  This hotel has a code-key lock on the front door, so it would have been possible to provide the code, and leave the assigned room door unlocked, and complete checkin formalities the next day (again, room was prepaid).  But no.

I then contacted the hotel via e-mail, explained the situation, and asked for a refund.  My request was ignored, at least as of the date of this review.

I cannot comment on the quality of the bed - but can authoritatively comment on their complete disregard for customer service and responsibility.  

You are better off bringing a tent - at least, in that case, you can count on a place to sleep.

One hundred percent unacceptable.
