We had a lovely family holiday at Puech Blanc, the location is stunning and a short drive to so many villages. It provides the perfect mix of things to do and explore and then to come back to the property to relax and to hang by the pool. The Sutherlands are perfect hosts and we were very sad when the holiday came to an end, there was one bonus, my two young girls left feeling very motivated to learn French!

Stunning property & location

Its a little rustic and rural for many folks, but the infectious friendliness and enthusiasm of the hosts, and their willingness to go out of their way to provide any assistance, bumps this up into excellent status.

We took a wine tour given by Andrea and could not have been more pleased with the information, wines and spirit of conviviality and commaderie.

Now it is 2019 and they will be smack-dab in the center of the Tour de France (Stage 11) on 7/16.  That shows what a grand part of France this is. It's been nearly a year since we were there, and I wish we were there, again.

Rural, Quaint & Picturesque

We decided to use Puech Blanc to celebrate my daughter's 50th Birthday. My children live and work across the globe. My daughter travelled from San Francisco and my two sons from Sydney and London..
The group included my three grandchildren and we chose Puech Blanc for the beautiful pool and surroundings. In all we were a group of 11 people and occupied all 4 gites and the Pigeonnier.

50th Birthday Celebration

Puech Blanc is an awesome place, with several gites (with the most comfortable beds ever) that have been crafted by the Sutherlands around their farmhouse in the French countryside -- a beautiful area of rolling hills dotted with grape vineyards and sunflower fields. It doesn't even feel like a "hotel" per se; it feels more like staying on a rural farm with a family. There is as much or as little interaction with the Sutherlands as you want. You could head off and do your thing every day without any interaction with the family, using the in-room fridge and cooking facilities, if that's your thing. (It's a short drive to the small town of Gaillac for supplies.) Or you can join in the occasional dinners they host, which always have an international flavor. During our visit we dined with Dutch and Danes, and the conversation was always fun and lively. There's a nice pool for relaxing, or simply walk the grounds for some absolutely stunning views across the rolling hills of the Midi-Pyrenees countryside. What surprises me is that more people don't come to this corner of France, which is about 45 minutes north of Toulouse. There's Albi, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and enough fortified villas and beautiful French hilltop villages to keep you busy for weeks. The best thing about Puech Blanc is it is in the center of it all -- though it doesn't feel like it. We were close to everything, yet still far enough away to feel like we weren't. Puech Blanc gets my highest recommendation. It's a great, relaxing place.

Perfect rural French charm

We had a lovely stay! The gite (Le Mauzac) is comfortable and has its own private garden, the swimming pool is big, there are lots of interesting sites to explore in the area, and Andrea and Ian are perfect hosts!
