We stayed here recently for a weekend for the second time, as we were attending a wedding party and cannot fault our experience. From the warm welcome Marie gave us  after our extremely long journey, to the comfortable accommodation and delicious breakfasts we had a marvellous base to enjoy the wedding weekend. I'd also like to thank Marie for her kindness and concern as I was taken ill during our stay. We hope it won't be another 8 years before we return.

Outstanding, welcoming chambre d'hote

Marie Brouillard is a perfect host who greets all her guests (many returnees) warmly. The room we had - the "yellow" - was very nice although the view was only of the neighbouring farm's back yard. Breakfast is more than adequate with plenty of choices - nothing cooked - and you will share the table with the other guests. There is a very pleasant shaded garden that you can relax in. There is wi-if but because of the thickness of the walls may not be attainable in your room so you may have to got to the kitchen or hall to pick up a signal. 
This chambre d'hôte is tucked away in the country and you will definitely need a car to get to it or any of the towns of villages nearby. Douai La Fontaine is drab and uninviting. Saumur is much better but is 25 minutes drive away and if you need a fast road to the eastern Loire the motorway is 40 minutes distance. There is good eating at La Puy de Notre Dame (10 minutes) or Montreuil (20 minutes) although you may be puzzled like we were by the apparent total absence of people in these towns. We walked down the centre of the road at 8 in the evening and saw no cars, people or any living thing. Where do they all go to? 
Although I think Madame Brouillard used to provide an evening meal that is no longer offered so you will have to hunt down evening meals outside.  Our favourite was in Le Puy de Notre Dame, a village that is "blessed" with a monstrously large church that is as grim and crumbling as anything from a gothic novel. The little restaurant there was delightful though and we thoroughly recommend it. 
We stayed 5 nights and enjoyed Marie's hospitality and we find no fault with the house or the breakfast. A perfect quiet corner and the value is exceptional.

Warm welcome with lovely rooms

I have stayed in many good chambres d'hote - but this is in my top 5. The rooms are clean,spacious and comfortable, with large bathrooms. When I locked my keys in side the car, Mme Bouillard did not hesitate to contact her local garage and offered to drive us into town for an appointment. 
Breakfasts are excellent -apart from the usual bread, croissants and home made jams;  eggs, crepes and  local delicacies were on offer.
Wifi was slow in the rooms,due to thick walls - but fine downstairs.

Excellent service and comfort

My husband and I stayed here for one night as we were going to a wedding nearby. We arrived late and stressed and were in hurry to get ready to our friends wedding. Too our great relief Madame Bouillard quickly showed us to our room so that we could change and explained us a short-cut on how to get to the church faster, saving us lots of precious time. We even arrived 10 min early.

The next morning we woke up to the most delicious breakfast with fresh bread, coffee, omelette, lots of different home-made marmalades, fruits-salads and more.

Our room was really beautiful, quiet and very clean. We woke up feeling relaxed and ready for new adventures. 

This place is one of the best "Chambres d'Hotes" we have stayed at, the service was excellent and Madame Bouillard is very friendly and made sure to talk to all of her guest, making sure they were enjoying their stay. Really an excellent place.

Beautiful place, excellent service!

My daughter and I stayed here one night on a bike trip of the Loire Valley.  We were greeted by our lovely hostess with a marvelous meal cooked especially for us!  The room was absolutely fabulous--comfortable and roomy and perfect!.  We loved our stay so much that we came back a few days later with my husband (who had been at a meeting).  He was as delighted as we were.  We ended up going out to dinner with our hosts and have an unforgettable evening.
