Chambres d'hôtes Can Oliba

This little guest house is the kind of place you always hope to find - it is centrally located, but offers peace and tranquility with perfect hosts. It is situated right in the historic centre of Elne, near the cathedral. If arriving by car, then head for the parking place near the Tourist Information Centre, where you can park for free (thgough I expect it is busy in high season). Can Oliba is about 5 minutes walk from here. You enter the door to find yourself in a cool, airy entrance hall that leads out to a dining area, then an outside courtyard with dining space, small pool and seating areas, surrounded by trees and potted plants. Although so central, this is an absolute haven of peace, and we enjoyed a dip in the pool when we came back in the afternoons. The rooms are clean, simply decorated and all with en suite bathrooms with either baths or showers. Seraphine and Phillipe are delightful hosts, making sure that we had all that we required, giving us tips and directions about where to go and laying out delicious breakfast for the mornings. Nothing was too much trouble - when I mentioned that I was gluten intolerant, Seraphine prepared a cake especially! I thoroughly recommend this lovely place and we will definitely be back!
