We booked this hotel based omits location and other reviews on Tripadvisor. Don't expect a polished luxury experience but do expect a friendly welcome, decent food and great value. The staff were great, helpful and responsive. As a stop off, it was ideal...

Basic but welcoming

First let me say that this hotel is really not any where close to the town of Digne les Bains. It was well worth the drive, however, as we were on our way to Nice and it is on 85, which is the main route to Nice. 
The hotel is very pretty, with lovely rooms which are on the small side but very comfortable. The Owner is very charming and even though she speaks very little English and we speak very little French, we were able to get along. The food is wonderful and reasonably priced; her husband is the chef and makes the best pomme frites! His prune preserves are delicious...don't pass them up at breakfast. Not much to see in this tiny hamlet but if you're on the road to the south you really will be happy if you stop here for dinner and a good night's sleep.

Well worth the drive

We stayed here the night before and after the Chemin de Fer railway journey to Nice and back. It was an excellent choice.  The hotel was clean, adequate in size and excellent service.  the owner was very chatty though French only,  She was very good at understanding our broken french and tried very hard.  The hotel now has a restaurant (new spring 2014) and the food and service were excellent.  Breakfast was all you could ask for in quality and quantity (Continental).  Dinner was scrumptious.  The Digne to Nice train will stop here if you request it by standing on the platform and flagging it down,  This allows you to have breakfast and still catch the train also you don't have to go back to Digne to pick up your car when returning.  the train trip itself is very interesting. We took the excursion which included lunch and the tram into Nice central but would not recommend that option.  The lunch was poor quality and there are lots of choices around.  The tram is obvious (marked on the pavement how to get there from the train station) so you can buy your tram ticket there and go 2 or 3 stops.

Great little hotel

We came upon this by chance and I am glad we did! It is right on the side of the road but I didn't hear a thing and our room was on the road side. The sense of arrival is very good as the hotel is well maintained and clean.

This is a two star with prices to match (we paid €60 for a twin), so don't expect 4 or 5 star facilities!, and a very nice one indeed. The lady owner is a really warm and friendly lady who greeted us with a smile and check in was fast and fuss free.

Our room was clean if a bit small and a large bathroom with bath and hand shower. I am not a fan of hand showers and  prefer the stand up wall mounted type. Comfortable beds so no complaints here.

We ate at night and unfortunately my duck was not just totally raw but also cold in the middle. I ordered pink. Further cooking still returned it to the table raw....if warmer. Duck is always best medium rare and hot throughout.

Breakfast was the usual fare (€8 each I think), however  but I did miss my morning fresh, crusty French Baguette from a Boulangerie. The ones offered were those small ones you bake yourself. Not the same! 

This is a very decent hotel for a stop over with really lovely owners.

Lovely little hotel.

This is a small, but very comfortable, well appointed hotel.  The rooms are large, extremely clean, and moderately priced.  The petit dejeuner was delicious and inexpensive.  The staff was friendly and most helpful.
