Excellent welcome and amenities. The house is very well kept and quiet, at a handy distance from Strasbourg. Breakfast (continental) was plentiful and delicious.
Mrs SCHAAL gave us good directions for local restaurants and public transport to Strasbourg.
We didn't have time to visit the village but there could be some good local interest there too.

Four nights stay in summer

We spent 2 great nights in this quiet location close to a small atmospheric village. Handy for a cheap park and ride tram to Strasbourg. Hostess very attentive, kind attentive and goes the extra mile. Good breakfasts and other facilities. Other attractive towns nearby e.g. Obernai and molsheim.

Great welcome and hospitality.

Marie-Paule was very friendly & welcoming, we stayed for a whole week & on one day she & her husband led us out on a motorbike ride into Germany! There is a covered car port for a motorbike & off-street parking for cars.
The breakfast was tasty & varied, the bedroom was very clean with all the amentities you'd expect & we had a lovely balcony.
The village is just outside Strasbourg so there are great links by bus & tram into the city, as well as being close to major roads.
The village is small & pretty, typically Alsatian, there are shops within walking distance & lots of marked cycle routes close by.
This is a Chambre d'hotes, not an hotel, so you have to bear in mind you don't have hotel service 24 hours a day, but we disucssed whatever we needed with Marie-Paule & she was happy to oblige.

Friendly, very clean, good food

I stayed at this B&B based on all the good TA reviews. I read them- as you should read this! B&B is owned by a woman who keeps her house clean, no doubt. The fist morning we arrived at breakfast at her specified time (you better not deviate from that if you want to maintain pleasantries). She served a huge quantity of (NOT homemade) croissants, and was insulted that we did not eat every last one. Crumbs left on the table also warranted a scolding from her. She helped with suggestions about getting to towns, parking etc. But would not speak a word of English to us (one of our family members spoke a little German).  The beds and rooms certainly comfortable enough. As was the very residential neighborhood and surrounding area. However, she continued to get frustrated with us- HER guests, for not following her very strict rules. ( apparently watching a movie on our iPad was "forbidden"!!!!!) (actually just a slideshow to be specific-so why would she care?)(how did she even know that we watched the iPad?) She eventually became so irritable with every turn (for example-I left my open suitcase on the floor) that we felt increasingly uncomfortable and unwelcome. One of my family members apparently perspired in the night and she waved the pillow case at us to further castigate and humiliate us. We bid her a good riddance and would never return. I would not recommend this B&B - under any circumstances. Painful and disastrous.

LES CHALINETTES
Our family rented this home (bed and breakfast) for the Christmas holiday week primarily due to to its proximity to Strasbourg. The house itself and the initial greeting by Mrs. Chaal were encouraging, but then on our second morning we all overslept due to jet lag and were an hour late for the agreed 9 am breakfast. At that, Mrs. Chaal , who was actually waiting for us at the top of the stairs (!!),  quickly turned into a crotchety school teacher scolding us vehemently (and me in particular as the family daddy) scolding us for being late for breakfast and inviting us to check out and go to a hotel, suggesting that if we could not follow her rules, we were not welcome. It is relevant to note that the scolding was not just an expression of disappointment, but a real verbal thrashing. We were of course totally astounded at such an irrational reaction and quite insulted. Further, we certainly were not prepared to leave on what would be the third day of a week's stay.  In fact, we did leave early, as we could not tolerate her drastic change of mood, finally making a reservation, with difficulty due to the season, at a hotel in the region. Note that there were a couple of other episodes of her obsessive behavior, but the message should be clear - follow her military-like rules or go somewhere else. It is not a relaxing atmosphere.
Note that we had no young children running around or crying, and we respected the fact that it was her home. Given her nasty attitude and her obsession with rules to the extent of disregarding her guests' comfort, consider this a fair warning to pass this one by. There are too many others in this area that welcome our business,  even allowing a late breakfast now and then.
