Evening meals are a good experience with lovely & accommodating Hosts Have now stayed here many times & will return. Very convenient for Calais.  Wonderful welcome & cater for me being Gluten Free. Warm & in a pleasant village, if a little difficult to find. Real professionals at what they do

Good All Round & Understand Gluten Free

I’m not sure how but we managed to book this charming guest house as a stopover on our way south. Everything was planned - arrive via the tunnel. Gentle drive to arrive in FILLIEVRES for approx 6.30. Couple of drinks and a lovely meal before continuing our journey the following day - bliss!!

We hadn’t accounted for the fact that it was warm in England and Eurotunnel don’t seem to be able to operate when it’s warm (or cold for that matter). So, after a 6 hour delay in the terminal in Folkestone (1 hour more than the quoted 5 hour delay) we eventually got to France. We had been unable to telephone the hotel whilst in the UK for some reason so had to email to advise we would be late.  Understandably they weren’t happy. But there was nothing we could do. We did phone as soon as we got to France and eventually turned up after midnight. Mme LeGrande was waiting for us and she could not have been nicer. She had some cheese tart left and we had a piece each followed by a fruit tart and washed down with a bottle of wine. Absolutely superb - she was so lovely. 

Had a great night sleep - lulled to sleep by the sound of the river flowing past our room. Up for breakfast - the usual continental but home made jams and all included in the price. 

I am just so sorry that we missed the evening meal - I’m sure that would have been excellent. 

All in all a lovely hotel run by really nice people who could not do enough for you. 

I would happily stay again. 

Absolutely Superb. 

Set in a nice little village the B&B is a water mill - so obviously on the river, nice gardens to stroll or sit in. Run by a lovely friendly couple. Have dinner at the big table that seats 10 & M Robert will offer you his home made drinks & keep you entertained, while you eat a nice meal with local produce most from the garden itself.

A B&B to return to!

Evening Meal is a Must

In 10 years of French B/Bs this one comes right to the top of the list.  It's the type of c-d-h you dream of - quirky building (an old mill), large en suite room with views (over river and mill race), affable hosts, great local food and home made aperatifs.  Add to that a kitchen and dining area where you could prepare a meal yourselves or just make the next day's butties or even a picnic to eat in their garden on the river bank.  We stayed for a week, visiting the annual kite festival at Dieppe, market at Hesdin, museums at Frevent and Etaples and the 100th anniversary of grandpa Charlie's part in the Battle of the Somme when he was wounded at Thiepval.  All were in easy range.   Robert and Bernadette, our hosts,  were marvellous but it does help if you have some French; and be prepared to act as translators at meal times round the communal table if your French is OK.  A typical meal might start with Robert's home made sloe aperatif, followed by a soup made from their garden vegs. eg pumpkin or nettles, pork in a maroilles sauce or rabbit with prunes followed by home made strawberry sorbet or a creme brulee flavoured with chicory. This is rural France at its best. A great break.

Perfect chambre d'hote

A very warm welcome, and a generous room in a characterful building. The hosts could not be more kind, and sitting on your balcony overlooking the mill waters is very relaxing. The drawback is that it's a long way to any town, or even to many shops, so you have to be going this way to make the stop worthwhile. The village itself is dull.
