Outdated decor in need of a repaint.
Lock on door badly repaired, holes in sheets, mirror missing from wall...although miroir writte on wall!
Converter on shower missing so9 difficult to switch from tap to shower.
Holes in wall, broken hooks in bathroom.
Had we not been so tired and unlikely to find another place to sleep at that time we would have left.
Very disappointing.

Shocking

Stayed for one night. Close to The beach! Rooms are dated but works fine for a night or Two. Traveled with 2kids and The room had 4(!) beds and not much more could fit in ;)! Restaurant was good with moules as its specialty! Beach is wide and nice!

The room itself was lovely, with nice furniture and a wonderful sea view. i wasn't happy at all with the service though, we came after peak time just for a drink before we went up to our rooms and we asked the owner if we may have a drink without eating and she said yes. we sat down and then a waitress came over and told us to eat or we cant stay there!! i found that disgusting that we got refused a drink in the place we were paying to stay! we definitely will not be staying there again!!

We'd crawled out of a rather damp tent and driven for almost 7 hours to reach La Chipaudiere. We'd looked at their website before we'd booked, so knew not to expect the Ritz, but surely a smile wouldn't hurt? Maybe the woman behind reception was having a bad day, we weren't to know. We were paying to stay in her hotel and the least we'd expect is a bit of curtesy when guests arrive!!! Our first floor room was a huge disappointment. All a little plain, dated and in much need of a makeover. Our room door only opened/closed with the aid of some brute force, the furniture was an eclectic mix of items last seen in a local second-hand shop, and we had to rearrange the room just to access a plug socket. The bathroom needs a whole review of it's own!!! The free wifi that was advertised simply didn't work. I asked Mrs Grumpy at reception and was plainly told "it should work!" It wasn't the ideal start to say the least. On the plus side, our room did give us a nice view of the sea and the hotel did have a car-park.

After the disappointment of the room we decided not to risk eating in the hotel, but after an unsuccessful walk up the high-street we found ourselves back a La Chipaudiere and we braced ourselves for what food they could offer... We were pleasantly surprised. The young girls who work in the restaurant clearly went to a different customer-care school than the grumpy woman we'd met at the reception. They were friendly and helpful. Hotel guests in the restaurant received a complimentary per-dinner drink, which was a nice touch. The menu was fairly decent and the prices didn't seem too bad. You can probably get much nicer food in Fort Mahon Plage, but it all looked fairly expensive to us. What we ate in La Chipaudiere was pretty good and we'd probably eat their again if we're ever nearby... I very much doubt we'll stay in their very shabby & dated rooms again though.

Nice food, shame about the hotel.

We used this hotel as a stop over on our way back to Calais.  It was a little tired but the rooms were clean and tidy and the beds very comfortable which is what we sorely needed after 2 weeks camping.  The receptionist spoke English which helped at the end of a tiring day.  As the hotel is on the main street on the sea front it was quite noisy but the windows when closed blocked most of the noise out.  The break fast was great - with fresh bread and croissants.

Last day of this years Holiday finds us back at La Chipaudiere - 29th July - greeted with a smile & it seemed that they remembered us from previous years - it is obvious that some work has been done , unfortunately the most obvious is the new security barrier to the car park that's now charged at 5Euro a day - still cheaper than the beach pay car park but next year I'll drive round the streets first. Restaurant food was again excellent with the 3 course option only 2Euro more than our chosen main course. If we go back to France next year we will again return.
