I've never stayed at a campsite with such a big pool, slides etc, but we didn't get to use them as it was so overcrowded. I could see 26 different chalets from the terrace of the one we rented, packed in like sardines (and that's just in one direction, there were more above/behind us). Website was not easy to use so we just had to guess that the chalet we had rented would be adequate - it was really expensive and pretty old. Impossible to escape the partying of the families lodged around us, as we were all squeezed in so tightly. We left early.

Arrived at 13:30 although check in isnt til 14:00, no issues letting us in early.
Decent size pitches, plenty of shade. 
We had a pitch along the lake so didn't experience the hills that other reviews had issues with. 
Pool area is lovely and clean. 

Lake is beautiful and by far the best thing about this campsite. 
Toilets were clean, showers were hot and heat adjustable.

The only issue for us was the access to food. Even in high season the shop was shut most of the day, snack bar only served ice cream and crepes between 14:30 and 18:00, so if you don't have supplies in your camp the day you arrive then you will go hungry til the shop or restaurant opens.

We ate at  the restaurant on the first night and we all had pizza, couldn't eat much as too many flies crawling all over us and the food. Locals didn't seem bothered by the flies and ate around them! Restaurant staff seemed almost amused at our disgust at flies over our food. We ate at the takeaway snack bar from then on. 

We enjoyed our 2 night stay here but we never visit the same place twice.

Beautiful lake

Not my favourite campsite in the area.this would kinda be the "last resort" The pitch site was supposedly a prime site...we had a fence blocking of access to the lake.
what was more annoying was you had a stream of hikers and wonders passing by constantly behind the fence and then turning around realising there's nowhere to go and the buses are too dense to pass along. why not put a sign up advising hiker,walkers and wonders...as well as informing guest who book those pitches that this would be the case...constant traffic. Overall the noise level at the camp at night was ok except on weekends.
Both pools were open, nice sizes but heavily chlorinated. Washrooms were clean. Plenty of amenities for families.

It's ok

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, we had a large pitch overlooking the beautiful lake. The toilet block was good, although the showers were like a jet wash! Swimming in the lake was great fun and one day we hired a pedalo with a slide which the kids loved. The swimming pool was good with fun slides. We hired bikes from the site and very much enjoyed cycling around the lake.

Excellent site

I wouldnt consider booking this site unless your desperate for somewhere to stay. Booked 9 nights requesting a Premium pitch as we have 8m vans and upon arrival were given a small pitch which our Caravan and awning could not fit on. Not only that, the pitches were so close together it was even difficult to manoeuvre your van on and off as they sloped. Staff very unhelpful in resolving the situation as they were full they kept telling us. We left with a full refund and no apology from them. Horrendous service and terrible site.

Capfun La Pergola, Jura

We towed our caravan from Scotland to the French Jura and picked this campsite because of its proximity to Lac de Chalain. We paid extra for a "Top Presta" pitch and although the website was unclear on what this entailed, we imagined it might involve extra space and a fully serviced pitch. 

Check-in was fine although remember to get a barrier card - we weren't given one at first. We were directed to our pitch to discover that "Top Presta" meant fully serviced, extra space, a covered picnic bench and a shed with a large fridge freezer, a sun lounger and a BBQ! For these we were asked to pay a £100 deposit. All of this was very nice to discover and would have been even nicer if the picnic bench, sun lounger and BBQ had been clean (they weren't). The fridge was very handy though and held a large volume of liquid refreshments 😉. 

The pool area was great. There are two pools, one of which is covered for less sunny days, two flumes and a new "Space Bowl" flume which only opened in the afternoon whilst we were there. The kids loved all of these as well as just playing in the pools. Life guards were always present but each seemed to have a large area to supervise. We did see a couple of older kids being chastised for not wearing swimming trunks of the Speedo variety so make sure you have these with you! 

Sun loungers are arranged around the pool on a slightly raised decking area which is nice to walk on when it's hot. As with many places, sun lounger availability became much more limited towards late morning, after which time you could forget it until late afternoon. We quite liked a system that was in place at another campsite we visited, where in high season loungers were charged at a couple of euros a day - this meant families were more likely to share a couple, rather than commandeer whole rows!! 😂

The lake was the star attraction for us though. There is direct access from the campsite onto a sandy/stony beach and a beautiful aquamarine lake which was the perfect temperature for swimming. There is a supervised swimming area but also loads of free space along the long beach. There is also a small jetty with lots of pedalos for hire, including one with a slide which was in hot demand! However although great fun, this one was much harder to pedal than the ordinary ones and the slide acted like a sail if the wind was up! 

There is a path all the way round the lake, a distance of 12 km which was easily managed on bikes with our 11 and 13 year olds. The path takes in the Domaine de Chalain campsite, some rocks which are fun to jump off and a small beach at Doucier with a nice cafe. We stopped off here on our circuit of the lake and also cycled the short way round one day just for an ice-cream - it's only about 15 minutes from the campsite by bike.   

There is a reasonable number of visitor attractions in the area, including the canyon, caves and abbey at Baume-les-Messieurs which we really enjoyed. There are also lots of local markets on different mornings of the week and our kids particularly enjoyed a visit to the beach and diving tower at nearby Clairvaux-les-Lacs. Overall though this is quite a peaceful area which doesn't seem overly touristy. My husband had brought his road bike and revelled in the quiet scenic roads which seemed to have been recently resurfaced for the Tour de France! 

Back at the campsite, we didn't particularly like the restaurant because the huge numbers of flies made it difficult to enjoy a meal. We understood that this was Simply because of the proximity to the lake but it really didn't make for a pleasant experience. The pizzas were good although my husband felt the mussels were not particularly fresh. 

In general the campsite was well-run. The main toilet block which we used was a unisex affair which worked well and was always kept very clean. We noticed that staff would be in cleaning at various times of the day and would just clean whatever units were vacant - instead of the annoying British habit of closing the blocks for hours at a time to do one big clean (five minutes after which the place would be manky again). 

The site allows dogs - we are dog owners but didn't bring ours - and owners were generally very responsible. However beside the main path running between the swimming pool/shop/reception area and the camping areas, we regularly saw dog poo that had not been cleaned up by owners. No doubt this was down to a few irresponsible individuals, but we felt the campsite could perhaps have been more pro-active about encouraging clean-up - there were no signs or poo bins. 

The site was quiet at night and generally pretty peaceful - it seemed the vast majority of clientele were families looking for a relaxing holiday. That was just what we got, and aside from the few points raised above, we really liked this campsite. 

Very enjoyable stat

I liked this place before because it was quiet and calm and laid back.. It's since been taken over by CapFun / FranceLoc .. And it's quite different now, full on peak season entertainment, themed parties and disco nights etc.. 
The animation team we're excellent, super friendly, made a real effort with the kids. All of the staff from reception to waiters to animation team were really nice.

I drop my rating a little because i agree with others that some places could really do with upgrading.. There's a new stage and new water slides but the old stage is still there, falling apart.. Many of the paving stones around pool are broken, there's no chance of a sunbed in the afternoon and the water in the pool, especially the covered pool looked rather "milky" .. The toilet blocks have a big shared roll of paper outside of the cubicles which leads to paper ending up all over the place but the actual toilets seemed pretty clean, as were the showers. Generally a little work required to make it top notch.

I heard people complain to reception about noise at night.. Generally we found it quiet but because the park is long and narrow and all of the entertainment is right at one end, you do get the sound of everybody leaving at midnight and heading in one direction to their accommodations.
