We stayed at La Barque for 3 nights on a recent family holiday. We were in quite a secluded spot overlooking the river and fairly close to the bridge/road which although it was busy didn’t impact much on our holiday at all. The site is small but the pool was good and the kids really enjoyed it. The shops were a short drive away as were the beaches though we chose to drive to Cannes for a day. We had a drink in the restaurant/bar but didn’t eat there and found the lady serving a little rude when we first walked in. Our van was equipped with everything we needed and our Eurocamp was helpful and informative. We had an enjoyable stay at this site and would recommend it.

Eurocamp

As a family we have always enjoyed trips to the south of France. This trip was no different.
The location of La Barque is good, within short driving distance of all amenities and 5mins to the beach's and coast road.

On arrival we were met by a Eurocamp rep who was friendly enough, although was prompt and didn't give much information.

Once in our accommodation you could notice it was tired and maybe one of the older statics on the site. We weren't particularly fazed, as the bedding & cutlery etc was clean. The veranda was a nice space to sit and enjoy the world pass under the shade of tall trees.

The site itself isn't large at all. There is a small entertainment centre next to the pool. We were just out of season and didn't get to experience what they have to offer. The pool itself is great. An area for small children with slide and then larger for adults. The pool area was clean, tidy and safe.
There is a water sports area at the rear of the site for but given the time of year it looked un manned and therefore did not use.
The road close by was noisy at times but after a while you did not notice it.
 
One final note about this site, yes its a little dated, not much going on and wifi is extra. But I feel that this kind of holiday is not one for staying on site, there is plenty to see and do locally. The expectation shouldn't be too high when staying somewhere for  price and just out of season. 

Back to basics

We were 2 adults and 2 children. We had no car or bikes so we walked everywhere but being an active family not too bothered. However, a car or bikes would have been better. The mobile home we stayed in was quite basic but new, clean, tidy and enough cooking equipment for all. It had no television but a week without it was probably a good thing.We spent quite some time around the swimming pool and walked to the beach which was just over 2 miles. There was no entertainment at night so that was a shame. We went to Luna Park one evening which was a 45 minute walk away. The site is basic but if you're wanting to explore during the days then this shouldn't be a problem. Our mobile was not near the busy road so that wasn't a problem ( I am a very light sleeper). All in all good family holiday, lots of walking and the weather was beautiful.

Family holiday August 2018

Traffic noise in morning and evening rush hour was awful. The noise was less in the daytime and gone in the evenings. I won't be going back there simply for that reason. I have been to other camp sites in the area with similar perfect hospitality and high standards, this site should not have been built there. I then noticed other camp sites build next to main roads so 

MY ADVICE, check the location on google maps before you book.

Traffic

This review is for Eurocamp at La Barque, St Aygulf. I would have left it on the reevoo site that Eurocamp use but for some reason, of the 20 parcs in the Riviera and Provence region, La Barque is the only campsite without a reevoo option.

The mobile homes appeared old and well used, a drawer unit in the kitchen was missing a front, the lights flickered at all times when in use, slats on the bed were broken, the air conditioning unit dripped water continuously. We have been on several Eurocamp holidays previously and were very disappointed with the accommodation provided.

On the Eurocamp parc website it says “Due to its small size, some road noise may be heard on our pitches from the neighbouring road.” I looked at the map in advance and saw a small road running alongside the park and thought that would be OK. Since our holiday I now think a fairer sentence would be “The parc is next to a road that while small is used heavily by traffic as it is a shortcut to St Aygulf. The noise of traffic is constant, getting out of the park can be difficult and cycling to town hazardous”.

Also, on the Eurocamp parc website it says “Family Disco 01/07/2018 - 31/08/2018” It should also say that on other nights there are bands playing as well some enthusiastic but untuneful karaoke.

There is no camp shop, I appreciate it does not state that there is one, but it is the first time I have been to a campsite, anywhere, without one. There is a shop in the adjacent camp site but the recommended approach involved walking through the dividing field and then in through a maintenance area where there were several large maintenance vehicles followed by a car park. This is not a child friendly route. 

On our return I pointed out the failings to Eurocamp who offered £300 off our next Eurocamp holiday. I remain doubtful of ever exercising that option.

Eurocamp at La Barque - avoid, avoid, avoid

The price was super discounted allegedly for end of season, but aren't all prices so discounted to make us believe we are getting a bargain?

We listed in a complaint direct to Eurocamp head office 28 faults with our accommodation.  Stains on the mattress were almost certainly semen, floors were disgusting, under the beds were full of biscuit wrappers and other junk, few of the doors on the internal units closed properly, and one was falling off - held by just one hinge.
A kitchen drawer was actually missing.
The main door was broken and had exposed broken glass right where you put your hand to open it.
The first thing we needed to do was wash all the crockery, glasses and pans.  They had been put into cupboards unwashed and very dirty.
We learned that in the preceding week 3 sets of guests had demanded new accommodation.  We were the 4th.
The day after we arrived Luke, the Eurocamp courier, was fired.  The poor person appointed to take over was dumbfounded by the state of things.
Advertising says that the site runs alongside a river.  It doesn't.  It runs right next to a busy road.  It is very noisy.
Do not stay here.

Appalling.  No other way to describe it.

Having stayed at lots of campsites across France, this one had to be the worst, WiFi is expensive and gets shut off at 8pm every night when the the receptionist finishes for the day, when I complained was told they turn everything off for security and doesn’t come back on until 9am the next morning, so yes you are paying for WiFi that you can only use during the day while most of us are out site seeing, the site is unkept, found the staff to be very rude, no shop have to use the  neighbouring campsite, pool is small and ball games are allowed so be prepared to get splashed. Loud music around the pool during the mornings while a bad session of water  aerobics takes place, no swim shorts, so guys get your speedos on otherwise you won’t be allowed in the pool. The worst thing about this site is the road it’s right next to a busy road so expect to get woken up very early. Have never complained about a campsite before so not a serial complainer.
