This hotel is very overpriced and in desperate need of renovation. It should be rated 2 stars at the most. The bathrooms are from the 1970s and the bath/shower even had a plastic shower curtain- something I have not seen in a hotel bathroom for over 10 years. The common areas are dull and old fashion. Breakfast is overpriced and uninspiring. We were meant to have their best room but it didn’t look at all like their photos on the website. Also be very careful of their booking conditions as once you have arrived you can’t make any changes to your stay without paying for the amount of days you have booked for. We had a technical problem with our car and gave 24 hours notice that we had to leave two days early but still had to pay for one nights stay. There were two positive points. One - the views are fantastic from the hotel and two - Lydia the hotel manager was extremely helpful. I hope the owner will take note of this review.

This hotel is very out of date and expensive

Beautiful building in an extremely scenic, magnificent location. Great views from our room. There was hot water and elevator, shower, toilet etc. worked well. The room and bathroom were of adequate size. However, the internet connection in our room was lousy and the interior decoration and furniture in the room was outdated and mismatched.

Beautifully located hotel that needs to upgrade its rooms

This is an historic hotel of great character, rescued and modernised to a high standard by the family who now own and run it.  We spent three nights in very comfortable and well appointed rooms that look out on to the Cirque de Gavarnie, which must be the most spectacular site in the Pyrenees.  We were made most  welcome: the family are friendly and very helpful.  We certainly hope to stay there again when walking in the High Pyrenees.

A lovely stay in a fine and friendly hotel

Spent 4 nights and 5 days enjoying the fabulous vistas and hikes in the area. The hotel has a captivating view of the Cirque de Gavarnie from rooms and the breakfast parlor. The staff treated us like family and offered expert advice on hikes and rainy day activities. There was so much more to see and do that we can’t wait to visit again. You’ll leap out bed every morning to open the curtains and marvel at the sun shining on the mountains and waterfalls.

Wonderful hotel for visit to Pyrenees

Despite being set in a truly beautiful area, Gavarnie can feel loud and crowded at times amidst the souvenir shops and donkey rides. However, by simply crossing over the bridge to the Hotel Vignemale, you enter an entirely different setting. The hotel itself is beautiful, and the views of the Cirque de Gavarnie are incredible.

The staff was very friendly. The manager (who speaks English very well--very helpful for someone like me who mostly gets by on a limited French vocabulary and a few hand gestures) offered to let me dry out my tent on their clothes line. Combined with the laundry service (7 euros, I think--I don't remember exactly), it made going back on the trail much easier. All-in-all, this was a fantastic stay and I would recommend it to anyone passing through the area.

Great stay in a hiker-friendly hotel

This hotel hit all the marks that were important to us:  great location (we could start hiking from the front door), spectacular views, comfortable recently updated room, good shower, delightful and helpful owners-staff, Lydia and her mother and step-father.  Lydia, who spent many years in the US speaks fluent English.  An avid outdoorswoman, she is extremely knowledgeable and helpful regarding the area, the hikes and trails.  She was always cheerfully available to answer any questions we had.  We wouldn't have wanted to stay anywhere else and if we ever return to Gavarnie, would want to stay here.

Great Location and Views, Excellent Staff

We had a wonderful time at the Hotel V. Spectacular views (even when it was cloudy), clean rooms, friendly and helpful staff. Room was small and quaint, but had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable (except for the pillows which were odd and not very cozy - fortunately they had some others) and long enough for this tall American. Breakfast was simple and sufficient, but definitely not a lavash spread by any means. 

We had a wonderful time at the Vignemale, and would return given the opportunity. 

Spectacular place

We stayed here for two nights earlier this month. The location is outstanding - you cannot best the position with views of the cirque. Hotel manager/owner is an amazing lady. So helpful and informative and speaks excellent English. Our room with a fabulous view of the cirque was very comfortable. Free parking and just a short walk into the town with access to fabulous walking. We barely scratched the surface and will definitely be back here again. 

Wonderful 

Came here on a recent hiking trip across the Pyrenees.   We stayed here after our first day hiking from Torla, Spain.   The hotel is beautiful clean, and very well staffed with friendly people.   

Looking forward to coming back on a visit to Lourdes.

Wonderful Respite after hiking from Spain

I would echo the other reviews - the location and views are brilliant, the place is expensive for the size/age of rooms (but this is Gavarnie).  What made it ‘value for money’ for us was the manager - she provided great advice, was incredibly helpful with taxi or restaurant bookings, spoke good English etc; I have rarely met anyone in a hotel so helpful and friendly.
