We were on a long distance footpath through the Pyrenees so, as there were no alternatives, were glad to grab a room at the Hotel des Cimes for a night's R&R.

About twice the price you would expect anywhere else - we paid less in Paris for FAR better hotel - hostel style accomodation for hotel money.

Not the worst hotel I've stayed at ...

The hostess is super helpful and kind.  The room was large and clean.  There was a charming balcony looking over a cute little square.  It was very quiet at night.  We loved this cute hotel and stayed a few extra days.  The town has nice walking paths and a Therme pool up a ways (maybe 1-2 k out of town but walkable).  The only problem is the Therme is closed much of the midday, making it difficult to go when its open.  There is a cool castle to visit!   There are some good restaurants that are open all day!  No waiting till 7:30 pm to eat!

Most romantic in 7 week journey

The room had a great view- but it was overpriced and nothing worked! Broken shower head, strange shower setup which you had to climb into a deep tub via a wooden stool, broken toilet roll holder, and TV did not connect. 
The room contained three beds- too many for such a small space.
The staff were lovely but the hotel was disappointing.

Room very clean, smart modern fittings and an frankly incredible view of the cirque - I imagine the best in Gavarnie!  We really enjoyed sitting on our balcony in the early evening.  Room very spacious.

We had breakfast in the hotel (which was extra) but excellent value and delicious.

Staff were very helpful - we had clothes posted to them so we had clean clothes at the end of a 2 week trek.

As this is a budget hotel, the standard of the rooms regarding furnishings and decor is not top quality and the whole place looks rather tired and in need of a spruce up. However, for an en suite double room with one of the best views of the Cirque in the village at less than 70 euro a night in the high season, you can't go far wrong staying here. The receptionist was pleasant and check in straightforward and efficient. There is ample free parking next to the hotel and free Wi-Fi for guests which worked most of the time. We felt that the continental breakfast was very overpriced for what it was (coffee, juice, bread or croissants with jam and some fruit), but this seems to be par for the course in France. All in all, this reasonably priced hotel is in an excellent location for hiking in the mountains and for exploring the Cirque.

Cheap and cheerful with a view to die for

Views and balcony directly onto Cirque du Gavarnie, rooms are comfy, clean and spacious, it's a budget hotel so no frills and bathroom could use an update, but the couple who run it are super friendly and very helpful with maps and advice about summer hiking. Excellent breakfast.
