Excellent food and very nice hosts. Arranged everything for my special needs of travelling. I had to stop over at Valence while travelling with TGV. I would have loved to spend more time.

Perfect experience

We had 4 nights with dinner each night and were extremely impressed with the cuisine and the wine list. The setting on the Isère river is very pretty and peaceful with a large outdoor dining terrace for when weather is warm and a lovely indoor dining area.  Dinners were extraordinary and we were happy to partake every night. Breakfast was copious with delicious breads, cheeses, breakfast meats and homemade jams. 
The location of the hotel was superb for our touring interests as it is easily accessible to a main road.  Just down the road is the lovely Jardin Zen Erik Borja & 20 min away you arrive at Tain l’Hermitage with its Cité de Chocolat and Tournon-sur-Rhone.  We visited St-Antoine- L’Abbaye, the beautiful Jardin des Fontaines Pétrifiantes in La Sône, took a ride on a paddle boat at St-Nazaire-en Royans, visited the Natural Regional Park of the Vercors, the Gorges de la Borne and saw the extraordinary colorful suspended houses in Pont-en-Royans and the Palais Idéal at Hauterives built over 30 years by a local postman! M et Mme Retailleau, who both speak English, were helpful with suggestions. 

I have to agree with previous reviewers about the size of the rooms. We booked a room with double bed & shower with a view of the river and we had a balcony but the room itself was quite small. I would not consider it a vacation hotel. Many of the clients were there for business travel as well as for conferences held there.  We met some repeat clients: the main draw is the superb cuisine and we would consider returning for that reason. Just off the Autoroute 7 it makes a good stopover when traveling N-S. All in all a good value.

Superb Cuisine Good Location for Touring or Stopover

We stayed a couple of nights here and the first thing to say is that we enjoyed the restaurant very much. The food was very good and interesting. There was a good selection of wine and some reasonable prices. One could have wished for a bit more choice if eating two nights in a row.

The hotel overlooks the Isere river so has a lovely setting and you can walk along the River although the path is high up not at the edge of the river. You cannot park your car very near the room although you can drop stuff off and then move the car. We booked a room with a terrace. To me a terrace means an outside area at ground floor level so you can exit the building onto the terrace. Here although the room is on the ground floor the terrace is what I would call a balcony as it is above the ground. It is a small seating area. As to the room itself this is very small. No room to swing the proverbial cat. As others have said it is a two star hotel but nevertheless a very small room and probably at the price should be larger. Given the standard of the restaurant it would have been nice if they had some larger rooms at higher prices. I would give the restaurant 5 stars.

Great restaurant shame about the room.

Easy to find, close to the motorway, on site parking, good value, good quality with welcoming and helpful staff. A charming country hotel on the banks of the Isere with a very good restaurant. Perfect in every way for a stopover while driving across this part of France. Dogs accepted and a footpath along the riverbank providing wonderful walks through the agricultural area that surrounds the hotel. 
Room was comfortable, small but adequate as were the ensuite shower room and (seperate) toilet. We had a terrace room which picturesque outlook gave beauitful view of the river.
Dinner was very good indeed in terms of both value and quality as was the breakfast.
Would stay here again and highly recommend this hotel, although being so close to a river may bring problems on a summer evening.

Perfect place for a stopover.

We booked on the Logis website this quirky hotel on the banks of the river.  It was difficult to find but the GPS and Google maps eventually got us there.  We arrived at around 7pm to check-in and were given some great rooms in one of the several buildings that make up the hotel.  My wife and I have chosen a room looking towards the river.  We had a patio/balcony.  Rooms were clean an tidy.  Bathrooms were small but functional and clean.  Separate toilet was typically French but useful.  Our daughters had a room upstairs which was also of good quality and had a view towards the river just above us.  We booked a table for dinner and were treated to an evening of great dinning.  The food was excellent and well priced.  Breakfast next day was a good selection of continental favourites.  This was ideal preparation for our journey onwards to Cannes.  Would recommend this quirky and out of the way hotel.

Stopover heading for Cannes

This is an interesting place - converted from an old farm complex (Grange) with modern rooms inside an old stone building that run down towards the river (Isere). To get to most of the rooms you go down from the entrance. Our room was small but had a lovely terrace surrounded by vines (kiwi fruit) looking out to the river. The staff were lovely and helpful. 
The restaurant serves excellent food - weather permitting on a rustic vine covered flag-stone patio.

There is a nice walk along the tow-path with river views.

We were there only one night in advance of our visit to the Plateau de Vercors so it was a good starting point. Plenty of shops and supermarkets in nearby Romans-sur-Isere.
The hotel is a little hard to find as it is in behind an industrial area, but one you get there it has lovely views over the river towards the mountains of the Vercors. There is plenty of parking. Definitely worth the effort.

Interesting Place

We have stayed at many Logis hotels, and this one does not deserve its three fireplaces rating. We have stayed here three times and each time there has been some disappointment. We have certainly not experienced the Logis three fireplaces "concentration of pleasure and special little touches, always done with style, the art of hospitality". This time we had booked one of the more expensive (though still quite small) rooms on the ground floor of the annex, with terrace. It was one of the hottest days of the year and we soon discovered that the door to the terrace, the only way of getting fresh air, had had its moustiquaire removed. (The remaining fixings indicated that if it had not been removed there would have been no access to the terrace!) As there was no air-conditioning, not even a fan, and the room was small, I pointed out the lack of moustiquaire and air-con to the owner and explained that as the room overlooked the river just 100 metres away, we could not sleep with the door open without attracting insects. Instead of apologising for this fault, and offering a solution such as a fan, he immediately went on the defensive and said neither moustiquaires nor air-conditioning were obligatory for a two-star hotel, and as previous guests had removed the moustiquaires he wasn't going to bother repairing them. (What kind of 2-star hotel is this, where the guests rip out the moustiquaires? In fact, I suspect all the ground-floor rooms have had their moustiquaires deliberately removed by the owner in order to give access to the terraces.) Eventually he grudgingly switched us to an even smaller room on the first floor (at the same price) which did have moustiquaires. The dinner was good though not exceptional. The quantity and quality of the food at breakfast was excellent, though the coffee would taste better with fresh rather than longlife milk. The quality of the food and the charm of the setting of the hotel do not offset the smallness of the rooms, the cramped bathrooms and minuscule toilets, and the attitude of the management. The owner is obviously happier as a chef than as an hotelier, and it shows. We shan't stay here again.
