We were 6 cyclists arriving at Le Coulou exhausted after a long climb up the hill. I would now climb up any number of hills to get there. It would rank as one of the best, if not the best, of all the many chambres d'hotes we have stayed in over the years. It is a heavenly location and the most beautifully sympathetic restoration of farm buildings. There is something very special about Laurent and the ambience that envelopes you when you are there... more than the delicious food, the bedrooms, the swimming pool. Something that just makes you want to stay there for ever. It was simply perfect, superb, wonderful I cannot rate it highly enough.

The perfect place to stay

By far the most beautiful tranquil location we’ve stayed at. Away from any distraction. In the middle of winefields and sloping landscapes where wild boar wonder. A magnificant restoration of the place with preservation of it’s French authenticity. Laurent is friendly, helpful and offers maximum privacy. During winter you can help search for truffles with his playful dogs. All items at breakfast are homemade from his own yard. A true relief and treat of relaxation. 

Heaven on earth in unspoiled surroundings

Previous Trip Advisor reviews were spot on.  Delightful drive along a single-track road through the trees and beautiful countryside led us to Laurent and Monique’s cosy chambre d’hôte.  We had booked a room three days previously and Laurent was good enough to email us a helpful route map so no problem locating the property.

Monique welcomed us and showed us not to the room we thought we had booked, instead provided an entire gîte for the one night we were staying.  We felt immediately at home in the clean, generous and comfortable space (nice bed linen) and wished we could have stayed longer; understandably there were no immediate vacancies.

Breakfast was served in an adjacent building in a conservatory style extension with spectacular views over the vineyards below and beyond.  Laurent served delicious food including the moreish canelés de Bordeaux.

A wonderful place to stay – hope we have another opportunity when we return to the Lot.

Country comfort

Incredible hidden gem. Everything was spectacular. Amazing food straight from the garden and their neighbors, beautiful renovated rooms, friendly owners, beautiful setting. A little paradise. I went with my 2 small children and they were more than accommodating. Also, they harvest their own safron here and make peach safron jam that is served with breakfast, incredible. 

Just stay here. 

We booked 2 chambres d'hotes for 2 nights, while attending a wedding locally, and were instead offered exclusive use of the delightful 3 bedroomed gite. The place was absolutely spotless, with 2 luxurious bath/shower rooms, extra loo downstairs, beautifully kitchen equipped to a very high standard and charming sitting/dining room with private terrace and lovely views. The breakfast/dining room in the main house has breathtaking views across the valley to a neighbouring wine chateau. We had pre-booked a four course evening meal which was served at a large table to our party of 4 plus a Belgian couple and the hosts - it made for a memorable evening of good food, excellent local wines and franglais conversation.
Breakfast was also served at the same table - bread, fruit, yoghurt and homemade preserves and cake, with good coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice. All delicious and sufficient for me, but my son said he would have perhaps liked some ham and cheese.
With a tranquil location, lovely pool and accommodation and charming hosts we would unhesitatingly recommend this gem and hope to visit again one day
