We were three people and we picked up the fish of the day (a St. Pierre) plus a dessert and a wine. Almost 200 € in total! In addition, the choice is very limited and the quantities in the plate are really sparse. The desserts were good but rather ordinary and, for a restaurant that is presented as gastronomic, the table would have deserved to be set with a white plank. Wine prices are very above average for this type of restaurant.

It's on the surface.

I've been coming to this hotel for several years, especially for the excellent table in its restaurant. The various confinements may not allow for some work financially, but it seems to me that a refreshment of the decor and a renewal of the bedding would be necessary. However, do not change anything at the ocean view and sunset.

Ideally located hotel

Respect for the kitchen

The room - Lovely outlook to the sea, and perfect for watching the fishng fleet going out and coming back, and for drifting off to sleep to the sound of the waves.  We were in room 3, which is the one shown on all the promotional material, with a balcony on the corner of the building, looking out in all directions.  I don't think I would have been quite so excited by the little shelf-style balconies on neighbouring rooms!

The food - we wanted a hotel with a nice restaurant so we could have dinner and a few drinks and still be handy to our room.  I have to say, we found the restaurant a little disappointing.  The menu seemed to be full of over-fussy, cheffy dishes that did little to make the best of the lovely fresh seafood on offer in Le Guilvinec.   Sadly, only one element of one dish we found really delicious.  

Because of coronavirus, the restaurant had done way with their printed menus, and had a card with QR codes sitting on the table, and asked if we had our phone.  We did, but the wifi in the hotel is not particularly reliable, and kept dropping the connection.  When we were unable to read the menu, the waiter said he would get us a printed one, but we then felt a little insulted that he brought over the English menu, when we had conducted all transactions so far in French.  I am really not sure why they would have taken this clumsy approach - all the other restaurants we went to during this trip relied on blackboards, which seemed a lot more sensible and accessible to me.

The breakfast, on the other hand, is great - simple and authentic, and you can have it in your room while sitting on the bed or out on the terrace watching the sea.  That was really special.

Parking - The booking.com listing states 'free private parking on site', which is a blatant untruth.  The hotel is on a busy, very narrow street, with no land around it, so no parking on site.  The man who checked us in was very casual about this, and told us, 'oh, parking is easy.  You can park anywhere around here.'  There were roadworks going on and what few spaces there were were taped off.  He laughed when we said we couldn't find parking.  The first night we were very lucky and managed to squeeze in at the front of the hotel, but coming back after going out the following day, we drove about for over an hour looking for somewhere to put the car, a necessity as I cannot walk very far so we could not leave it far away.

All in all, a curate's egg, like most hotels.  The bed was comfortable, the shower was fine and the breakfast was gorgeous.  The things that let it down are parking (please tell the truth in your listings) and the overpriced pretentious restaurant.  Sort those, and it would be a five-star!

Good, but could be great

Local, seasonal produce, talented cooking and served with a smile. The view from the entrance to the port of Guilvinec is a grand spectacle, especially at sunset.

That's great!

In a very hot weather we were greeted very freshly by an aggressive young woman who without even saying hello forced us to buy masks (anti-Covid) because  if I had to give them to everyone, it would cost me 5.000€! . Ambiance.... we are immediately in the bath in the Bigouden Country ! This even though we have 10 meters to do to join our table on the terrace where no one wears masks  Our terrace waitress is adorable and directs us to the menu at 20€ with Malo de maquereau, place palette and pancakes. Everything is absolutely delicious and served at an ideal tempo. The parasites allow us to resist the sea and contemplate a sumptuous and decorated sumptuous cottage/cottage quality.

A beautiful place, a welcome to improve

First restaurant since the lockdown. It's not our first visit, it's delicious from the entrance to the dessert. The calf carpaccio, liver fat and lobster is fresh and well seasoned. The low-temperature pork with its juice is tasty (and copious). I picked the cardamom poached fish, I really liked these flavors. The service is very pleasant and despite the masks and visors, we did very well.

That's great.

The dishes were delicious as usual, rather hesitant but tolerable service, beautiful sea views, but the terrace is desirable, dirty, worn out, no sign of any effort to fix it... shame...

A delicious meal

Honestly, for a 20-euro lunch menu, entrance-desert... that's great! And it's not a joke. A welcoming and caring staff. Fine dishes and well-stocked plates. Nice sea view. You can also eat on the map, everything looks delicious.

And this is not a joke!!

After enjoying the lunch menu with our two pubertis, they both agreed that fish was delicious, and we can only agree that everything was fine-tuned.
