We had a lovely long weekend at Rosebud, it's a lovely house, and a lovely hostess, the room was good with a lovely ensuite, abd a fabuous breakfast every morning. The lovely orchard garden was quiet and peaceful, even though we were close to the centre of Honfleur

Hidden Gem

We arrived after a long drive as part of a three week road trip around France. It was our second visit to Honfleur and we loved the hotel. It gave us the feel of a plantation house with a lovely garden you could use which was enclosed by large walls and very large and pretty at the rear. We had a room at the top of the house which gave us lovely views across to the suspension bridge. The room was really comfortable and we really enjoyed the garden. The breakfast was really good with lots of choice. The owner was very helpful and showed us to a very nearby garage where you park your car off the road. It is a short 5 minute ish easy walk to the harbour area for the shops and restaurants of beautiful Honfleur. We would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay again if returning to Honfleur

Bright room with lovely ensuite with large shower. Tea and coffee making facilities. Beautiful gardens. Great breakfast (especially the freshly squeezed orange juice) and lovely hostess. Superfast wifi. Secure parking. A short walk into main port area of Honfleur. Excellent place to stay

Wonderful place

We stayed here for 3 nights and cannot recommend it highly enough.  As we were driving it was important to have parking as know how difficult it can be to park in Honfleur.  We also wanted somewhere that was walking distance of the town.  Rosebud delivered on those things and so much more.  The room was beautiful and of a high specification.  The garden is delightful and a great place to relax with a glass of wine after a busy day.  The breakfast was superb and the host (Francoise) is friendly and helpful. A real find and would definitely return.

A real gem in a great location

This B&B is located about a 10 minute walk from the port and commercial area of Honfluer, where you will find most of the restaurants.  This means it’s in a relatively quiet area, which is good for sleeping in warmer weather, as our room did not have A/C (which I believe is true of all rooms), so you may need to open windows.  We were comfortable, and while we were there the weather was nice.  The gardens around the house are quite nice.  It is an older home, so like other European B&B’s, you have to navigate some steep and narrow stairs to reach the sleeping accommodations.  If you have larger luggage because you have a lengthy trip, as we did, it means hauling your suitcase up the stairs.  We’re in good shape, so it wasn’t a problem, but be aware you’ll need to do that.

Our room appeared to be one of the smaller rooms, which meant pretty limited space for hanging clothes, and no dresser or place for clothing, so we hung a few essentials and basically lived out of our suitcases for the several days we were there.  It was fine, but left little room apart from the bed.  If we had been confined to the room by poor weather it might have gotten interesting.  There was a small table and chairs, but we probably would have preferred a dresser.

The bathroom was pretty large by European standards, with a fairly spacious shower (no bathtub).  The sink was a little interesting in that there were separate taps for hot and cold water, located about 6-8 inches apart, so you couldn’t get “warm” water.  In addition, the water from the taps was about 1 inch from the back of the sink, so it was difficult to get your hands under the water.

The hostess was very pleasant, and spoke limited but passable English.  We didn’t have difficulty communicating, but we also didn’t have very complex questions or needs.  She recommended a couple of good restaurants, and made a dinner reservation for us at our request.  Breakfast was plentiful and quite good, starting at 8:30am.  There were the usual breads (great), fruit, yogurt, meats and cheese if you want, and coffee or tea.

Parking is located about a half mile away in a garage, which is easily reached after a short walk, and at least based on our travels, was approached before reaching the B&B, making it relatively easy to part and then walk to the B&B.  When you approach the B&B, you won’t easily see a sign for it as you drive in.  It’s an area with sidewalks and walls, with entry doors to the houses.  The sign is relatively small, and set next to the door.  The road is narrow, and you may need to turn around to come back and park in front to unload your luggage.  She will go with you to part the car the first time.

Note: If you use a Garmin GPS, it should find the hotel pretty well, but if you leave Honfleur to go sightseeing, my recommendation is you go right from the parking, which will get you onto main roads.  When going towards Cannes or Bayeux (south, west) ours wanted to take us left, which we followed the first time, and ended up on some pretty small back roads.  It was pretty, but not efficient for getting to our destination.
