We ate in the garden by the river. It could not have been better: a wonderful view and delicious fresh food, with masses of vegetables from the hotel’s own vegetable patch. The terrine of Beaufort and artichoke is always delicious. The melon with ham was excellent. The strawberry soup was memorable. The wine list is excellent and good value. Highly recommend.

We had a lovely lunch here in July 2019. Both my daughter and I have food restrictions (wheat and dairy) and they were very accommodating. Certainly, recommend it for this. The waitress spoke some English and was very cordial.

We used the hotel as our base for three days whilst supporting our two sons on some epic bike rides over the mythic cols in the Alps. The hotel provided everything that we required. Our room on the first floor was spacious and had a recently updated en-suite shower room. The bed was comfortable and the wardrobe space was ample. The hotel staff met our every request with a smile and delivered prompt service. The best thing about this hotel has to be the garden - an oasis of calm offering cool shade from the fierce midsummer heat. We would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a base for exploring the region, whether by car, bike or on foot, away from the hustle and bustle of nearby Bourg d'Oisans.

Alpine retreat 

Charming 17th century mountain castle with renovated rooms, full bar/restaurant, comfortable outdoor seating and beautiful surroundings. The meals from morning to night are delicious. Highly recommend staying here!

Beautiful location with cozy rooms

We had the opportunity to stay in this very lovely and very old château.  This seems to be a family business, the staff are all just wonderful and polite, the rooms are relaxing as are the ground to sit in.  Every morning I woke to the smell of Brioche baking, we stayed in one of the turrets.  Our room was very airy, plenty of room for bags, beds very comfortable as well.
Meals were just simply devine, from breakfast where you could boil your own eggs to dinner, the food was well presented and your every whim was looked after.  Having stayed in this region before, I thoroughly recommend this chateau as a place to stay, it is approx a 20 minute drive to Venosc from Le Bourg d Oisans.  Breakfast was an extra cost but at just under 10€ who would complain, most French breakfasts cost more than that! and where would you be able to cook your own boiled eggs.  This was a very romantic and truly lovely experience for anyone wanting to experience the true French romance.  Well worth the money.

Walks cycling and peace

I hate to be the first to write a negative review here, but I feel some balance is needed in the face of all the glowing reports. My husband and I have been touring Europe for the past three months and this has been hands down our worst hotel experience. Where to begin? The room was small and stuffy, the bed was extremely uncomfortable, and the bathroom smelled of urine. Considering the prices they charge in the restaurant, the food was simply terrible: everything was overcooked (my chicken was the consistency of shoe leather), the bread and desserts were stale, and even our morning coffee was served cold. Yes, the hotel is in a very beautiful area, and I give them credit for having a good wine list. But beyond that, I cannot offer any compliments to the hotel or its staff.

Not worth two stars

We stayed 6 nights in this wunderful hotel. The traditional French kitchen is very good. The restaurant had a good selection of French wines. The rooms are a little out dated but the bed was extremely good. The last and one off the best things is the garden. And above all the very friendly and hostile family that runs the hotel.
