A perfect setting for a lovely weekend. Great availability and kindness of guests, very clean and nicely decorated room, bed on top. Local cuisine. A little more: you can practice your English if he tells you to.

Do it again!

Wendy and Peter welcomed us very kindly. We had a very good time in this beautiful area. The breakfast was very plentiful. The room was very spacious and very clean with a good mattress. Nothing was missing. Wendy and Peter kindly took care not to serve the same things too much at breakfast, a very kind attention from them. We hope to come back, and enjoy the guest table this time.

It's a wonderful place, impeccable cleanliness, with the utmost kindness of our guests.

This is a most excellent property with comfortable, well maintained accommodation, well placed for those attending the Baugé Opera Festival. The hosts made a special effort to cater for some difficult food allergies.

Recent stay

A very warm welcome from the guests with a very friendly English accent! A very pleasant, beautifully decorated room with impeccable cleanliness! A resting stop in the countryside with a very good traditional dinner.

It's charming.

Our hosts were very welcoming and over our two week stay were never too busy to answer questions and give advice on local places of interest. They pointed us to the best butchers, and very helpfully drove us to a local market, in Angers, for the best olives and goats cheese. 

The pool was so inviting we and the children spent many an hour in it in the hot weather, and also night swimming with bats overhead.

Wendy provided a basket of local foods including eggs, butter, camembert cheese, their own apple juice and some Rose D'Anjou wine. The option of a daily delivery of bread and croissants was hard to turn down.

Peter's cooking was top class with the best duck dish we have tasted. Also a goats cheese and melon salad starter and a delicious Greengage pie for pudding.

The house and gardens were kept in meticulous order and we took full advantage of the books and DVD's available. Our hosts also provided lots of incidentals we appreciated, such as soap and fabric conditioner. 

We didn't get to see any wild board or deer in the garden but the frogs and newts in the pond were fascinating to watch.

The nearby Château de Montgeoffroy was incredible. Apparently very little has changed there in hundreds of years. All the local towns are worth a visit and we enjoyed the Opera performed nearby.

Overall conclusion: Fantastic!

Superbly relaxing Holiday

We were only passing through, but I wish we'd had longer at Le Bignon. It was a delight - the welcome, the room, the tea and biscuits after a long journey, the pool and gardens, and Wendy and Peter's hospitality. Will stay longer next time.

Perfect

This is a very quiet place in the countryside in a very old manor house.Room on the second floor with an excellent bedding.Sanitation very clean and convenient.No TV but a good wifi reception..in the rooms.A nice swimming pool for hot summer days.Extremely welcoming and available hotels.Good atmosphere and sharing with a very English clientele.Thank you to Wendy and Peter very dedicated to their work.

It's a great stay.

We stayed at le Bignon for the week commencing 21st July. Grandparents children and grandchildren. We had the place to ourselves. The weather was so good, which meant everyday we were able to spend by the pool which was fantastic, and the children absolutely loved it. Peter cooked 2 meals for us and one in particular was to celebrate a 70th and 40th birthday. They were delicious. Peter and Wendy are lovely hosts. Their home is beautiful. This is our third visit. Our rooms were delightful and immaculate. We have had the most relaxing happy holiday in beautiful peaceful surroundings. Can’t wait to go back.

Amazing family holiday celebrating special birthdays.

Very nice house in a quiet countryside. The room is spacious and very cute with its decorations in a canvas. Some elements of decoration are damaged or even obsolete (shower for example) Breakfast is rather disappointing: lack of diversity and local products (damage given the beautiful area) The swimming pool was unfortunately not usable on Sunday morning and rather dirty and very chlorinated!!

A beautiful home but things to see again

We have just returned from a perfect stay at Le Bignon. We rented the beautiful Vine House, complete with lovely gardens and a super pool.... We had almost exclusive use of the pool all week!! Wendy and Peter who own ale Bignon are delightful and so friendly and helpful. The perfect place for a totally relaxing holiday
