I chose La Croix Julo because of its location and description on the internet and was not disappointed,  Suzanne and Peter are 2 wonderful  B&B hosts.  Our rooms were quite large and nicely appointed.  Breakfast time is a unique experience.  Suzanne teaches French immersion and we were part of that the 1st morning.  A couple from the Netherlands were there to enhance their French.  So, all conversations were in French (with a little side bar to help me understand what was being said).  Very interesting.  They gave us suggestions as to what to see each day and where to eat.  We were quite happy with our stay.

A Language Surprise

Were were here for the immersion experience which included tuition,room and half board. Lovely owners and grounds. comfortable accommodation and good food.Wifi is available.
A good time was had by all. Having your own transport would be advisable. 

Immersion

From the private French lessons to the meals, everything about Suzanne and Peter's establishment is amazing. Friendly and comfortable, with outstanding meals. Being an avid gardener myself, I immediately appreciated the organic produce still being harvested. I love Suzanne's style of teaching, and would like to spend more time there on my next trip. She made learning fun. Suzanne is also a wealth of knowledge about the surrounding area, so she also made a very good travel guide on our outings. I was also treated to a few evenings of Peter's superb piano playing.  I cried when it was time to leave. The B&B is located a fair distance from any city and there is no public transportation, so would recommend renting a car during your stay there. That being said, the village of Jugon-les-lacs is a 20 minute walk away and very enjoyable.

Amazing!

The main reason for choosing La Croix Julo was because Suzanne gives private French lessons and it sounded perfect for me I actually didn't pay much attention to the chambre d'hôte itself when booking, so when my husband and I drove up to find a picturesque stone farmhouse surrounded by a magnificent garden, set in the middle of corn fields, it was a wonderful surprise. After our long drive from Amiens we were warmly welcomed by Suzanne and Peter and shown to our rustic and charming upstairs bedroom. The single beds were very comfortable, the bathroom was roomy for a French farmhouse and the shower was great. There was a really comfy chair, a small desk with a chair, a cupboard and drawers and lots of ledges and spaces so you could spread out. It felt very homely. There were several places in the beautiful garden where you could relax with a book and glass of wine or to paint (as did my husband while I was doing French lessons). It was such a delight wandering around Suzanne's award winning garden and luckily for us at the time, the tomatoes in the hot house were in season and we were able to pick them
Now to the main reason for my stay
I spent a week at La Croix Julo for the purpose of improving my French, which I did, thanks to Suzanne. A three hour lesson each day for 5 days, with varied targeted activities focussing on my individual needs was perfect. Suzanne was very quick to ascertain my needs, goals and the fact that I wanted to focus on conversation rather than boring grammar exercises, although of course some grammar is essential but she managed to teach it in a very creative way. 
A week at Le Croix Julo was not enough. I  highly recommend the chambre d'hôte as well as Suzanne's teaching. There is so much to do and see in this part of Brittany

Perfect in every way

We stayed at La Croix Julot for 6 nights while my husband studied French with Suzanne.  Aside from being a wonderful teacher, Suzanne and her husband Peter were amazing hosts.  Peter prepared beautiful meals with produce grown in Suzanne's organic garden.  I looked forward to Suzanne's homemade preserves (confit) and that delicious Breton butter on a baguette/croissant every morning at breakfast.  And Suzanne's homemade yogurt was so very good!  Aside from the yummy food, our room was clean and comfortable with an tidy ensuite bathroom.  And it was warm - Brittany had a spell of cooler weather while we were there.  But I think what I enjoyed the most about our stay (other than the butter...) was our conversations with Peter and Suzanne over a glass of wine.  They are fascinating people with a lovely story to tell, especially the history of their farmhouse and how they renovated it.  They gave us wonderful suggestions as to what to do with our free time after my husbands morning lessons were over.  I absolutely fell in love with Brittany, and can't wait to return to stay with Peter and Suzanne to do more exploring!

Outstanding stay in a beautifully renovated French farmhouse!

We stayed here for 4 nights so we could take advantage of Suzanne's excellent French lessons.  The accommodation is spotlessly clean and the meals provided were delicious.  A plus for me was having some time with Mr X, the outside cat (who has extremely comfortable beds available to him in a draught-free spot).  His contentment is obvious.  The garden is beautiful and is a pleasure to either sit in or walk around.
