Friendly greeting, no warmth imposed, but sincere hospitality. Rooms lovingly and tastefully decorated, embarrassingly clean, quiet, good breakfast. Very good price-performance ratio. The B+B is a bit remote, but if you're traveling from Les Sables d'Olonne to Langer Rochelle, it's almost on the track.

We felt good all around.

A lovely welcome, we had a pleasant stay, Phil and Emma are lovely guests and listen to him, a very good dinner and a pleasant breakfast, a quiet place, a wonderful room to decorate with taste.

This is a delightful highly appointed and relaxing spot from which to explore the Vendee and La Rochelle. Breakfast in the courtyard sets the day of to an excellent start following a peaceful night's sleep in the beautifully decorated bedrooms. Emma and Phil are delightful hosts, who aim to please their guests and always succeed. This is our second perfect visit.

Beautiful friendly spot in rural France

Welcome to the guest house, friends' house in the Thémer Chapel. Charming house, with a perfect room and bathroom. You'll miss nothing...café, tea, water, small cakes...etc. In the bathroom small toilet samples. When breakfast... very nice... and succulent... fruits, jams, bread, croissants... cookies... better than some hotels When phill and Emma meet very friendly... and charming people.

Home warm, everything is neat, very nice place, 100% recommended! Beautiful decoration, guests are very cared for, and breakfast very cozy! Very well equipped and very clean rooms

We stayed at Maison des Amis for a week in August while we were attending a nearby music festival.

Everything about the stay at Maison des Amis was superlative:  the cleanliness, the garden, the delightful food and wine, the unflagging courtesy and attentiveness of our hosts Phil and Emma. We had such a wonderful time, and it was because of them.

A small example: When we were leaving, Emma drove her car ahead of us, guiding us though a maze flawlessly onto to the highway to Paris. This is typical of dozens of small details.  Other examples:  she and Phil gave us detailed, accurate instructions for ways to get to the closest stores, gas, and other necessities. Another example:  Emma realized that Anne had dietary restrictions, although we had not told her, and adjusted the food she served Anne. This was so much trouble! While she served these delicious desserts to others, she somehow made time and adjusted her grocery order so that she could serve fruit salad one night, a cheese plate the other night, to Anne. She did this again and again, courteously and gently. This is a tiny, tiny town—not big enough for a bakery—so Emma bakes, beautifully, and also is on the route of itinerant fish vendors, vegetable people, and bread people.  (The bread man blows his automobile horn to alert the village that he has come. The vegetable people knock on the door.) The result is that the spread of food is amazing—how does she get, much less cook, such abundance? But, she does.  

Phil and Emma were utterly professional about running the bed and breakfast. It was their business, and this business-like concern showed in so many ways:  everything in the home was spic and span; we were encouraged to use the living room; we were welcome in the garden; they have a great dog!! who was NOT let in when we ate because food was too much for him! His name is Bertie. He’s adorable.  They were utterly courteous and responsive, yet not intrusive. Each day there was something wonderful to eat (and drink). In short, it was heaven.  

We are going back next year, to hear Mr. Christie’s music, and to stay at Emma and Phil’s fabulous bed and breakfast. We, and anyone else who stays there, are blessedly lucky to have a stay at such a place.

In short, it as heaven

We stayed here whilst attending a friends wedding in a neighbouring village . Both Emma and Phil were incredibly hospitable without being intrusive . Whilst this is a B&B there are some lovely touches can, bathrobes in the rooms ,Toiletries a lovely breakfast . Rooms are very clean and quirkily decorated . We had the top floor which meant we shared the bathroom with our daughter , this floor would be great if travelling with a child . I would definitely recommend you won't be disappointed . Great value for money

Fab find with excellent hosts

Emma and Phil are lovely hosts, caring little for their guests whether in our room (coatcloth, fresh flowers, tea or teaspoon available), in the living room (colored couches next to a small stove that wraps you with a sweet warmth) or at the table (home-made dishes and delicious breakfast). We felt at home and look forward to coming back.

Emma & Phil are fantastic hosts! They make you feel very welcome, are really warm and caring people and are also wonderful cooks. It 's a very cosy place to be, in a quiet and beautiful location. 
We 'll be back!!

Best stay in France ever!

My mother and I were in Vendée for the William Christie Festival, and despite the weather... Emma and Phil gave us a wonderful welcome. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and well decorated, and the breakfast and dinner are great. Excellent quality/price ratio. We highly recommend The Friends' House... first class.
