Two years ago we looked at Le Refuge and were happy to leave within minutes - it was so dilapidated and uninspiring. 
What a transformation: now it is (at least for us) by far the top place to eat in and around Gigaro - and over recent years we have tried most!
The "terrasse" is delightful, especially on a warm late summer's evening - you can just get a glimpse of the sea through the trees.
The food is delicious - maybe special note of the wonderful potatoes and cream with truffles. We also enjoyed excellent fish and shellfish dishes as well as really good desserts.
We found the "house wine" equivalent perfectly agreeable and reasonably priced.

Warm and relaxed service on our first evening - slightly sorry it was markedly less so when we returned and had a different waiter. But......!

Such a transformation from two years ago!

This is a great little spot for those who want to roll out of bed onto a beach. The hotel manager was super helpful, thoughtful and friendly and clearly enjoys meeting and chatting with her guests. Little touches made us feel very special. Rooms, while modest are tastefully furnished and spotlessly clean and appear to have, by and large, undergone recent updating. Wifi does not reach the furthest rooms away from reception and all the downstairs standard rooms with shared toilet don't have a balcony or outdoor space. We thought it worth upgrading and once we got an upstairs room with a balcony, we couldn't have asked for more! The continental breakfast is taken on the front terrace under the pines which was lovely and relaxing. All in all, a super little place!

Brilliant budget hotel!

Le Refuge restaurant is situated amongst  tall trees on a beautiful deck with an ocean view. Tranquil and lovely however the food was a bit inconsistent . The lamb and fish were very good. The veal (which tasted and looked like steak?) was just ok, the parmesan gnocchi was tasteless and the seafood soup was tasty, but a bit crunchy with shells (?). Not a bad meal overall but room for improvement .

Gorgeous Setting, But

Nice place at end of Gigaro beach.
The owner made important works for over a year on this old restaurant and came out with a modern , cosy and styled restaurant, having even an open fire-place.
Service is very friendly , and so is the owner.
But the food preparation still needs some improvement , most dishes were by far too expensive compared to the quality or finishing of the menues served . 
Certainly the owner will reach this other goal , knowing him as very ambitious.

Improvement possible

We have just spent three days here - had been once before.  Perfectly simple but very clean and well run .  Breadkfast served within the price - again simple but good.  Location good for the beach and cliff walks - both minutes away..  Sun loungers provided outside.  No pool.  One can also rent a self catering studio which could suit some.

i was sitting outside the pool then they came with our free breakfast on the first morning and they showed up with a dog and told me to eat it (btw im Chinese) i did feel ashamed off my culture (btw it was quite yummy)
