We have just had a fabulous week as a family of 4 with kids aged 8 and 14.

The campsite is well situated close to the gorgeous town of la flotte as well as cycle paths. We hired bikes for the week from the site for a very reasonable price, locks, helmets and baskets all provided. The site has one heated pool with 2 slides which were very popular with all the kids! Our kids didn't make it to kids club during the day as we were mostly out and about but the kids team doing the evening discos and activities were brilliant- so enthusiastic and warm, consistently bringing a great energy every day! 

There is a snack bar on site where you can get pizzas, burgers and waffles but there are restaurants all over the island. 

The cabins are clean and modern. We drove here so brought our own linen and towels. I'd advise bringing your own pillows if you have the space. It was a very quiet site at night and there was a nice general buzz without it being overwhelming during the whole stay. 

Only downsides are having to take an inventory of the cabin on arrival- not the first thing you want to be doing after a journey. Also a bit of a steep cleaning charge. But these are minor points and would not put us off coming here again. 

The island is beautiful. The local area near the site is lovely but everywhere is an easy bike ride away. There are free buses also but we never used them. There is a market every day in la flotte so it's easy to stock up supplies. 

A lovely stay, would recommend!

Fabulous family stay 

 We had a fabulouls time here.  We stayed in a 3 bedroom Taos cabin with its own pool which was outstanding.  Very clean and modern with everything you could need for a comfortable stay.  Really good private outdoor seating/deck area too which we made great use of. The area around our cabin was beautifully landscaped.  The main pool and communal areas we well maintained and enjoyable.   The food was average but the opening times not great for early July.  Also we arrived in the middle of the day and had to wait 2 hours for our keys as receiption was closed.  Overall a great location and fab accommodation.

Fabulous, cant wait to go back

The kids club employees were not friendly like all the other employees. There were many English speaking kids but none of the activities & games were explained in English so my kids and other kids stopped going as they were always bored

Fab few days booked last minute and loved it ! 
Caravan clean modern and everything you could need.We took bedding bit can be hired. Quiet location but 20 mins walk or quick bike to la Flotte,we hired bikes on site 23 euros for 2 days definitely worth it.
Pool area great. Staff helpful and nice. Highly recommend 

Worth booking

The camping is a beautiful and well organized place to spend your vacation! The staff is very helpful and friendly! We had a wonderful stay! The location on the island, close to la Flotte makes it a very good start for road-tripping on bike or even for walking. 

Great stay!

The campsite is very well located a short bike ride from the charming port of La Flotte. The campsite facilities are perfectly adequate. The reception staff don’t smile very much and carry out their tasks in a perfunctory manner. The waiters in the restaurant seem very harassed and are not at all customer focused. Simple tasks such as asking to swap an ingredient on a pizza are met with a hostile response as opposed to a gracious offer to assist.

Nice location but staff aren’t welcoming

A lovely campsite, ideal for families with young children. The heated pool was the star attraction for our children who wanted to spend the entire week in there! There was also a football/basket court, beach volleyball, table tennis, pétanque and a playground. Never a dull hour. 

The accommodation was cosy, we took a cabin for 6 people, even though we were only 4, and we were very glad that we didn't have to use the foldout bed which would have reduced the indoor manoeuvring space to 1x1m²! However, it was clean and comfortable... although we took our own pillows, and again, were glad we did.

La Flotte is a truly charming little port, which is 20min walk, although there is a free shuttle bus which picks up from outside the campsite, which is helpful if you've got heavy shopping bags. The beach in la Flotte is lovely and only 15min away. However, it does disappear entirely at high tide. You have been warned!

We hired bikes from the campsite, which was compatible to prices from other rental places on the island (if not slightly more costly). This is a great option allowing you to properly explore the beautiful Ile de Ré. However, I would advise you check the tire pressure before leaving as ours all needed air. 

Lovely campsite, situated a stone's throw from the beach

We stayed in a family cabin (3 bedrooms) with 4 adults and 2 children under 6. I knew the rooms would be cosy but they were perfect for their main purpose of sleeping. I had been apprehensive about cleanliness, assuming most people would clean it themselves, but it was spotless - and on check out staff members check for this. 
The kitchen was well equipped - though if you have very little ones you might want to being your own plastic plates and cups. 
The bathroom was a good size and the shower was powerful. There was always hot water. 
The only thing lacking was air conditioning, but leaving the windows open at night was good enough. A bit sticky, but there are mosquito guards so at least we didn't get bitten. 
The pool was great fun and my son hardly left the slide. Being August we expected it to be quite full and busy, but apart from one occasion there were always lounges and space in the pool. 
The bar kitchen did decent food. We pre-ordered roast chicken one night and it was delicious. 
We stayed for some evening entertainment. Despite everything being in French we still had a great time. Children's entertainment usually started at 8.30pm and then more general entertainment at 9.30pm. The soft play was close by so you could sit with a drink with the children having fun close by. Note, on the Friday night people booked tables for dinner during the entertainment, so worth doing the same. 
La Flotte was about 15/20 min walk and was just lovely and relaxing. When the tide was out children search for cockles in the sand. There's a playground by the seafront restaurants too.
We'd definitely go back.

Great location, great fun

Upon our arrival, we were greeted by a lovely young lady who did her best to speak in English whilst my partner did his best to speak in French! Our chalet/caravan was lovely and clean and had an outside area with a big tree so even when it rained our whole site stayed dry! We had loads of privacy too. Having read a review on here that they are very cramped if you attempt to sleep the max number of people in there, I brought some extra bedding and pillows in case we would need to sleep in our camper. Boy I am glad I did! It worked for us sleeping in our van as our four children are older, but I would strongly urge (unless you have a vehicle you can sleep in) to get two up from the amount of people you have! The outside dining area is a godsend and means you can enjoy eating all your meals outside, even when it rains. There are only two deck chairs to sit in the garden though so fight among yourselves! The inventory you have to take when you arrive is a bit of a faff (note - do this before you crack open the French wine) things are well hidden and don't look like what you'd expect, ex they call a cloth a mop! We even had to google what an oyster knife was as we're not really that sophisticated! The duvets and pillows are provided but you have to bring your own bedding unless you specify at booking and pay extra. You also have to clean it all at the end or pay seventy euros extra. You are supposed to have a check at the end before you leave but our checker didn;t turn up at the time we booked and the office wasn't open. As we had to leave for our ferry, we popped the key in post box and a few days later they emailed to say all was fine and they had destroyed our card details. So don't panic if they don't turn up and you need to leave. If you want a TV you have to pay fifty euros extra which I thought was a bit steep. So we decided to pay twenty euros for the wifi so we could watch netflix etc, only to discover that you could only have it on two devices, something they didn't tell us when we bought it. That meant I had four kids on my hotspot for ten days which cost me a goodly dollop in data! The wifi was also intermittent so I would suggest negotiating a holiday data package with your provider. The pool and facilities are very well looked after, especially the pool and surrounding area which was immaculate - not a tile out of place. The sun loungers are a tad uncomfy, but they're OK. The steam room and sauna were nice but I didn't seem to be able to ever make the sauna very hot and more often than not there was no water in the bucket so I started to take my own bottle in. The steam room is very nice, it's pot luck whether they decide to put a scent in or not and a slight let down is that there is a really loud banging in there, presumably the pipes, which doesn't really help you relax! Unfortunately the Jacuzzi was out of action for our whole ten day stay which I was a bit disappointed about, especially being in high season. The laundry room was a bit costly as they already have powder in so you can't use your own. As I took some with me I chose to hand wash and use the big airers they provide at the chalet. 
We only ate once at the restaurant but felt it was good value for money although the mussels were not that great - lots of them, but not very flavoursome. The waitress was very sweet though and took a photo for us, even though she was really busy. We mostly bought food from the local supermarkets and had BBQs on the ones they provide for anyone to use on the site. There are no ovens in the chalets, just a hob and microwave. We were lucky though as the BBQs were right next to us! 
Our kids are a bit old for the kids stuff but from what I saw the kids club looked fun, although it is all in French and a lot of the staff can't speak much English, not that they should have to at all, it's just so you know. 
The real downside for me, and this is not the campsite's fault, was the cockerels on a neighbouring farm. OMG, the cockerels! By night seven I though I might actually go a bit mad. They start at 4am, are EXTREMELY loud and they do not let up until the sun has gone down again. They are relentless. If you are a light sleeper then either ask to be put at the other end of the camp or stay somewhere else. I did happen to have ear plugs with me but after wearing them for the whole stay, every night, my ears really hurt. And I could still hear them a bit! Like I say, it's not the campsite's fault but it's only fair people know this! 
Outside of the site: La Flotte is only a stone's throw away and is a very quaint little town. The beach may be in walking distance but don't expect to be able to make a day of it! It is very rocky and the current looks like you'd be swept straight out to sea. You need to drive or cycle to the nice beaches and it's best to do you research before you set off. Also look at tide times as the sea goes out really far. We went to one beach and had to wait until 4pm until the sea came back and we could swim in it!
Getting on and off the island can be a costly affair at sixteen euros per entry toll, so make sure you plan your trips wisely. Also, if you plan to leave the island on a Saturday, either leave very early in the morning or just go on a different day. We got stuck in a very long queue at 11am on a Saturday and after looking it up, this seems to be a regular occurrence. There are massive supermarkets on the island and loads of markets etc so you have everything you need on there. 
All in all we had a wonderful holiday and as long as you don't mind the sound of cockerels (maybe it's just me) I would recommend Les Peupliers as a lovely little campsite for a chilled family holiday.

Lovely place for the right family

Great campsite; excellent location- a short cycle along a cycle path to the beautiful town of La Flotte.  The best part for us was the fantastic staff in the kids club, Hafid & Manon were great with our kids (4&6)who woke up every morning asking to go to kids club instead of the beach!  Good facilities on site, the restaurant isn’t great but there are so many in La Flotte it’s nicer to go out!
