What an experience! A real, privately owned château full of louis XV furniture and paintings surrounded by a moat. Breakfast was served by a man wearing white gloves and treating the original silver platters with deference. Slightly run down but this adds to its charm. Close to Beaune so perfect for wine tasting, we cycled the lanes and then picnicked by the side of the moat filled with ancient carp. Don’t miss this. It won’t be there forever. One last thing. There is no sign to say where to drive in, and no obvious place to park. Once in, leave your car next to the abandoned red vehicle then walk across the  field and over the bridge. Obvious when you know how. 

Don’t miss this glimpse into history

What a wonderful rustic, charming location for an overnight stay. Full of original 17th and 18th century tapestries and furniture. If you are looking for a 5* modern hotel then it’s not for you but if you want an experience it is. Seen bad reviews on here but don’t agree with them at all. Charming butler who greeted on arrival and served breakfast in the courtyard.

15th, 17th and 18th Century Experience 

It was dar, no signs and a closed door; we thought we where in the wrong place. However, ring the bell and a butler appears. A French castle with a moat, slightly cold, in some need of renovation and decorated with an eclectic collection of everything. We were the only guest and it had a hint of the The Addams Family (in a GOOD way). It has tons of charm and is equipped with a butler, who in white gloves serves the breakfast in the grand dining room. The room was clean and the butler was very helpful and friendly. We just loved it!!

A different experience...

Spent the night at the Chateau as a stop over on a road trip. Peaceful and beautiful, it was very pleasing to stay here. There is an air of decadence surrounding the place which adds to the atmosphere making it even more charming. No dinner on offer but a wonderful breakfast in the garden the next morning. I will definitely stay here again on my next trip. 

A charming heaven of peace

Lovely, welcoming folk. Nothing too much trouble. Very comfortable and CLEAN 'cottage' (gatehouse). WiFi bit tenuous! However, we are not lovers of WiFi and that did nothing to detract from the stay. Lots of stuff to see in the neighbourhood and close to the formidable Chablis wine town. Sancerre (Loire) not too distant. Wine-lovers' paradise.

A very relaxing and comfortable stay in prestigious surroundings, off the beaten track

This is a grand house in the old french tradition. It is very individual, and beautiful. Sadly, it is also rather in need of renovation. The interior is decorated with artifacts from the past 200 years, which sometimes gives it great charm, and at other times, makes it look like a set from a murder mystery.

It is very hard to find the Chateau in the dark, as there are no signs telling you where it is. However, we phoned to make sure we were in the right place, and on arrival we were greeted by the caretaker and manager who was very helpful. Our first impressions were of a truly grand house, an the second (being January) was that it was not very warm inside. Fortunately the beds were very comfortable and provided with heavy duvets.

After a walk around the grounds in the morning, breakfast was excellent, and served by the caretaker in an immense dining room.

I would recommend it as a place to stay you love old buildings and want somewhere totally different for a night, don't stay here if you prefer boring buildings and 5* luxury ....
