Lagrasse is a lovely village. The Balcony Gite is over priced and average. Amelie and Eppo ( letting agents for the owners) talk a good pleasant game but do not deliver a good service nor are particularly helpful or visible.

Good Points
In a magnificent historic village backing on to a picturesque river

Average Points
Gite is a bit of a mix and match not put together with any style or taste. The second “bedroom” is dark with no windows and feels like sleeping in a cave.
Balcony furniture is uncomfortable iron seats and table.
Comfort of the Gite is average - but nowhere near the standard it should be for the price charged.

Poor Points
‘ Garden Area” is overgrown , unkempt with random outdoor furniture in need of repair and updating.
The stairwell down to the “ garden area” is untidy with bits and pieces strewn in no particular order.
Barbecue items are old, badly worn and in need of replacement. 
“The small unkempt “ garden area” is shared between two Gites which is awkward and impractical.
Both bathrooms in the Gite are not particularly pleasant 
Amelie and Eppo are not helpful nor do they respond to actioning requests
The Gite requires a makeover and upgrading - the mix and match of items and layout is not stylish or chic - it is more like second hand items poorly thrown together
No where near worth the prices charged



Average at Best

We four spent two weeks in the Balcony Gite in the off-season, in February, and had a wonderful, relaxing visit.  The manager, Amelie, is fantastic, and was helpful in every way we could have asked.

The gite is very comfortable, fully equipped, in a fascinating ancient building.  The gite is very quiet (at least in February). The beds are great.

Lagrasse is a beautiful village, with a surprising number of wonderful restaurants, though we cooked at home often in a great kitchen.  The balcony looking over the river and the 12th century bridge was great in the morning and evening (we were fortunate to have great February weather).

We could not have felt more welcome or looked after.  We would love to come again.

Special place in a charming village

We came here for a week and had the most wonderful and relaxing stay in the beautiful Balcony Gite, looked after by the lovely Amelie. The Gite is beautifully situated right by the river, and in gorgeous condition, with great bedrooms and bathrooms and a fab kitchen and living area. It sits of course in the market square, and is really close to all the restaurants and little shops of Lagrasse. We can't recommend highly enough.

Gorgeous and special!

We spent a week in The Balcony Gite in August this year. We had our 20 month old granddaughter with us and she absolutely loved being by the riverside and swimming in the shallows. The village has several pleasant restaurants and small shops selling excellent crafts. The situation of these Gites is perfect and Amelie and Eppo are delightful hosts. 
The Balcony Gite is very old and has a rustic charm. I'm sure the new owners will continue to provide lovely accommodation here in this idyllic part of the French countryside. We would definitely return.
