Le Belvedere was an ideal stopover on our way to Southern Spain.
Situated in the heart of Langres, the hotel is surrounded with so much history.
Try and take out time to explore the town, you won’t be disappointed.
When you eventually find the hotel ( a little tricky to find) it does have parking for approximately 5 vehicles. My advice would be to park in the car park next to the hotel. Firstly it’s free, as the hotel charges to park , and secondly if you’ve blocked in at the hotel, it will take a while to get out!
Our welcome by the owner was fabulous, who explained a few things to us about the hotel.
Our room was spacious with views over the countryside beyond.
The hotel only offers breakfast, which can be taken outside by the pool if the weather allows! I must say it was an excellent breakfast.
I feel the outside area could be make fabulous, because at the moment it does look somewhat tired.
All in all a pleasant stay.

A COMFORTABLE OVERNIGHT STOPOVER

I loved this hotel! The lady who owned it was very welcoming and gave us good advice on where to eat. Our room was beautiful and looked out onto the garden, with open countryside and a lake beyond. The weather was HOT. We slept with the curtains and windows wide open and woke from time to time to see stars in the sky and a beautiful sunrise. OK it wasn't the best night's sleep due to the heat, but the view and night sky were wonderful. This was easily the best hotel we stayed in during our holiday in France. Also we loved the cats. Even the naughty one, Garfield 

Amazing hotel with a warm welcome

A lovely old building, room warm and cosy, great welcome &personal service from the hosts, advice of where to eat at night. We were on our way to the Swiss Alps and the beautiful bath in our room was just what was needed after a days travelling.  Breakfast was served to our table by our hosts and was a lovely continental selection.  We would definitely stay in this area & hotel again.

One night stopover

We stayed for one night on our way to the Alps. We had our small dog with us, and stayed in the Loft - which is a separate building at the entrance to the property- with a small kitchen. It suited us perfectly. It has a bedroom/bathroom/small sitting area on one level and s mezzanine level with separate bed (which we did not use). It was a cold day when we arrived and the log burner was lit ready for our arrival and made the place very cosy.  We were made to feel very welcome by the hosts - who could not have done more for us.  Would definitely recommend.

Cosy winter stay in Loft

After reading the reviews, we expected so much more. 

There is no way that this is a four-star B&B, there are far, far better places out there.

The good

This is a beautiful house in an excellent location, right by the main street of a lovely town. The house has truly spectacular views out the back.

Breakfast was also excellent.

The bad

Chaotic check in to the extent where we were asked what room we were checking in to. They did not seem to know. 

There did not seem to be any system for giving us the information we needed for the stay despite this couple apparently running this B&B for 15 years.

Although the house is beautiful, it is not clean enough. The poor housekeeping is especially apparent in public areas with windows dirty and stairs dusty. Also, the glass front of the microwave??? in the breakfast room looked especially grubby.

Although the breakfast room looks out on this spectacular view, the garden is unkempt and untidy spilling this truly remarkable view.

A very strange atmosphere between husband and wife. The dynamic felt very much like a dysfunctional couple constantly challenging each other but with a lack of respect.

The end was however the climax. The check out by the wife can only be described as insulting. No smile, no thanks, no "How was your stay?" Just a rude grab at the credit card and not even a goodbye. No eye contact and an overwhelmingly arrogant attitude.

We really always want people to succeed in business but some people (and the wife is a prime example) truly should not work in hospitality. More importantly, if you don't want people in your house, don't open a B&B.

If you want to get a better idea of the mentality of this "lady" check out her response to negative reviews. Very unprofessional.

Expectations from not delivered

This B&B is located in the nice walled city of Langres close to the ancient ramparts. Ideal to start a walk around this little city. 
Free parking closeby which is not trivial when staying inside a city. Nice room with all comfort.
And in the morning a breakfast that surpasses anything we ever got in a B&B in France. Served with a smile.

Great B&B

Beautiful, well maintained old mansion with ditto, large rooms. Each has it's own decoration, some offer a fantastic view. Quite friendly and helpful owners. The mansion and the rooms are hard to heat when it's cold and there is no A/C.

Beautiful place to stay in Langres.

I was so pleased to have discovered le Belvedere des Remparts as soon as I received an email from Eglys: she was so warm and helpful from the outset. The house is simply beautiful, a wonderfully renovated town house transformed into a family home with cats, dogs and children all providing a warm and friendly atmosphere. Eglys and Loren could not have been better hosts: everything was absolutely perfect, even Eglys offering to make up a fire for us in the hearth in our bedroom. The room was so comfortable and warm and the beds were amazing. Breakfast was superb and Eglys is the perfect host, seemingly anticipating one's every wish. In addition she has a marvellous, quick wit and wonderful sense of humour. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to return. 

A FANTASTIC HOME FROM HOME.

We stayed here for our first night in France en route to a holiday in the south of France and Spain.
The place is charming and a bit ‘off-beat’.
It’s run by a very friendly and welcoming couple (he is American, she is Cuban).
The lady of the house was especially charming, friendly, entertaining, attentive & funny. 
Breakfast was excellent and there’s a great view from the back of the hotel.
Our room was large but the toiletries and lighting could have been better.
Glad we stayed.

Very glad we stayed here

I decided to break a very long journey from Calais to near Aix en Provence and called by about 9am. I had a dog snd a cat and during Covid and in Lockdown was somewhat stressed. The family offered me a beautiful isolated loft room and allowed me to enter immediately and stay until I wanted to the next day, even accommodating me if I’d only wanted a few hours. I have been to Langres before as it’s a perfect halfway stop and gutted I didn’t know this fabulous hotel was here before. Very hospitable and very accommodating. Clean and so comfortable with high spec bathroom and kitchen. Decorated beautifully. Breakfast included. Highly recommend and I will definitely come back
