Every time we stayed in Auvergne we ate a rose-colored dinner. It was always a pleasure for the hospitality and the quality of the cuisine but yesterday it was just sublime! The exceptional frog cuisines, the duck jam with the cedar or even the trout from the neighboring village... everything was absolutely perfect. Not to mention the welcome at the fireplace which only adds to the happiness of being there. Thank you to the owners for their kindness and professionalism.

A treat

A personal matter caused my wife and I to visit the town of Olliergues in France for two days, and a last minute scramble for accommodation introduced us to La Vie en Rose Hotel and Restaurant, which is located twelve kilometres away. We enjoyed an evergreen, tranquil and scenic fifteen minutes drive into the quaint town of Le Brugeron, where the picturesque building sat in the centre serving as a welcome-house labeled “La Vie en Rose”.

Upon arrival we met the host and manger of the establishment, Chantal, who gave us the warmest and friendliest greeting. There was a slight language barrier because we spoke no French and Chantal spoke very little English, but with the help of a translator app, we managed to communicate and was given the key to Room 4 which is located on the second floor.

The building has maintained its original old-fashioned design, which contributes its vintage beauty to an untouched surroundings, therefore, walking up and down the stairs creates some appreciated creaking sounds. 

We had a triple room, which entailed a double bed and a single bed, two side tables, a desk and chair, television, closet and a WC and bathroom combi. Overall the staircase, landings and our room were extremely clean; this include the WC and bathroom. The shower was great with a superb water pressure and adjustable temperature gauge. Wi-Fi is available, although not great, but useable.

As a bonus we had extra towels and shower gels, plus there was an extra pillow and blanket in the closet. The room’s image is what to be realistically expected of the region, French simplicity at its best; airy and comfortable.

We had breakfast and dinner at the restaurant and can only say, wow! 10 out of 10. 

Breakfast was Continental styled, where Chantal served us freshly squeezed orange juice, a variety of fruits, two different breads, Croissants, butter, a platter of cheeses, a platter of various jams, hot chocolate and tea; the presentation was impressive. 

Dinner followed suit and was of no surprise. We ordered salmon, which was served with Dauphinoise potatoes, which we complimented with a suggested wine, by our host, a bottle of Roche Mazet Chardonnay, a sweetish but non-dessert wine. 

For dessert we had crème brûlée and profiterole, which were both delicious; everything, except for the wine, were made in-house and we received service with a smile throughout.

A special thanks to Chantal for being such a great host. We loved and enjoyed every minute of it and would revisit the hotel and the area for its charm and halcyon existence.

Tranquil and Comfortable

The manager is hospitable, the hotel is very nice. If you're looking for a quiet place, it's the place of your dreams. We were a little late for lunch but the chef wanted to turn on the ovens to make us a great dish (bavette/fries made at home) and cherry on the cake a small plate of local cheeses. The WiFi is not very powerful and for 4G it goes relatively well.

It's a simple but comfortable hotel.

At the Hotel/restaurant la vie en rose, at Chantal et Carl, we are staying in a star-rated hotel full of stars. All these stars are in the hospitality, service, kindness and conviviality that Chantal and Carl invest in them. For us this is the 4th year that we have made a one-night stop. A break between Normandie and the Screen Park. Our first summer vacation night. It is always in a pleasant and calm setting that we are welcomed into the hotel/restaurant La vie en rose. The little house (orange, all sorts of confectionery, honey, yogurt, and fresh fruit) is also a safe place to stay with us. As for the quality of our coffee and the taste of our cherries and cherries, we will always offer you a great deal of comfort.

Well served, pleased, to see us come back.

Finally, an establishment that reminds us of what authenticity, simplicity, and efficiency are.

What is authentic

As in July 2017 and July 20-21, 2018, the 19th and 20th of July 2019 between Normandy and Champsaur-Valgaudemar we will make a stop to life in pink. The reception, the family room, the restaurant and breakfast are always super top. The house-made restaurant (our son ordered frogs' thighs, our daughter a salmon's darn and we tasted a successful duck confection) Each dish is accompanied by small garden vegetables, here it was a coast of lettuce, turnips and mushrooms and apples of earth salted with duck fat). The house desserts are just as great. The breakfast is the same as the previous years.

Life in Pink: Our gateway to the holidays

During the summer we stopped on the road between the Moselle and Montpellier (to avoid the highway from the sun) with our 3 children (6 years, 4 years and 3 months). We booked the family suite (2 rooms). A warm and simple welcome on arrival. Time to get into rooms and go back down to the dining room or everything is done to make us feel comfortable. A great and satisfying meal!!

It's almost like Mommy's house.

It must be made clear that the small hotel industry - outside the tourist areas with high traffic - is in decline and when an establishment such as the Hotel de la vie en rose continues its business, staying there is vital to ensure the economic viability of such a hotel. The reception is excellent, the furniture room is a bit spartan and the bedding is very clean and of good quality.

A very pleasant atmosphere.

The hostess and her second host greeted us with the sincere smile of friendly people naturally. A family of four, we slept in a very clean, well-arranged, sober and rustic family suite of two rooms in a comfortable, peaceful hotel in the countryside, with wifi :) The meal of 2 duck candies and 2 truffles delighted the whole family, and the salads around us convinced us to come back to taste them. Together in my family, we chose it as the official stage of our holiday between the north and the south.

For our first day of summer vacation in 2018, always to avoid Paris and Lyon of our Normandy we went back through life in pink to go to the vanity park. The difference from last year is the weather: in 2018, there was plenty of time. Otherwise the welcome room is always pleasant and warm. The atmosphere is always friendly and the guests are friendly. The cuisine and service are excellent. We picked up like last year a confection of duck with mushrooms picked up in the nearby forests.

Last year we went over it. This year (July 2018) we went over it again. It's always good and nice!!
